When building my last desktop PC I've wanted to make it as small as possible yet without any performance compromises. On the outside I really don't like those "screaming xmas tree" so-called "gamer" cases, I prefer moderate minimalism, strict forms. On the inside the resulting configuration is pretty much ideal to me, the case rests on wheel table (got it from IKEA I think) underneath the desk. Mind you it was built around a year ago with only minimal configuration changes happening throughout that period.
Here is the resulting spec:
Chassis: Silverstone SUGO SG07B-W (w/600W PSU)
Motherboard: DFI LanParty MI P55
CPU: Intel Core i7 870
RAM: 2x 2GB DDR3
GPU: Nvidia GTX480
Display: 2x Dell Ultrasharp U2410 24" IPS LCD
Audio: SoundBlaster X-Fi HD USB (connected to are Beyerdynamic DT770 headphones and Edifier S530 2.1 speaker set)
SDD: OCZ Vertex 120GB
HDD: WDC Green 2TB
OS: Windows 7 x64 Pro enGB + Debian GNU/Linux x64
This is both work and gaming PC, but despite being tiny in size it is equally suitable for design tasks, 3D modeling, programming, watching movies, listening to music and gaming of course. I do however have a separate machine for server tasks like storage, backups, testing and development, and unlike desktop PC it was built to be server (and a very quiet one at that), so it's specs are close to entry-level servers:
Chassis: FractalDesign Define Mini
Motherboard: Supermicro X8SIL-F
PSU: Seasonic X-560 (SS-560KM)
CPU: Intel Xeon X3440
RAM: 2x 4GB @ 1333MHz DDR3 PC3-10600 ECC Registered
SDD: Intel X25-E SSD 32Gb
HDD: 6x WDC RE3 1TB on Intel SRCSATAWB (LSI Logic 1078 SAC) controller in RAID6 array
OS: Sourcemage GNU/Linux x64 (planning to put VMWare ESXi and then everything else on top of it)
I can say that I'm fully satisfied with what I've built, and everything works as I ever wished it to be. Systems are definitely not top performance, but I never understood the reason behind chasing "latest and fastest" stuff anyway. I'm happy as both of them are relatively fast enough not to irritate me with delays and lags. Also they're quiet systems, unlike "jet noise" desktops.
Oha Nice Rig mate !
I loved your I5.
Is your RAM the HyperX kingston?
And for @all : No one considered buying Gskill , Patriotq or Mushkin RAMs?
I didn't remember what CPU I had except I remembered it was the newer gen i5. Then this fella posted his and I remembered I have the i5 2500K too. Haven't bothered at all to bring it to 4GHz from the 3.3 since I haven't felt it lagging yet in any of the apps / games I play. Very sweet processor so far.
Rest of the specs are rather in line. The GPU (Ati 5850 or 5750 I keep forgetting which) is not top notch anymore, but haven't invested to it since I no longer seem to buy and play new games. The rest is pretty bland. 4 Gig mem, Win 7, 650W Seasonic PSU, 3 HDDs ~ 2.5 TB, but I'm quite happy with the keyboard Logitech Illuminated. Sleek, stylish and no extra buttons to do zillion things like those rather very ugly gaming KBs all have. Plus went from wireless G7 back to wired mouse. If I remember correctly it's G9.
About the memories you asked. I have had Mushkin's and G-Skills. Mushkin left a very good impression on me. In my former rig that is. G-Skills are like the A-Data I'm running with now. I've been happy with them. Nothing spectacular, but solid performance.
It seems I've gotten old and honestly don't even have one single OCed component anymore in my comp. I just don't bother anymore. Sad, I know.

Setup:
Acer TravelMate 630
Pentium 4 at 1.8 GHz
512 MBs of ? ram running at ? MHz
Geforce 2 Go (32 MBs of dedicated VRAM, plays HL2 on extremely low occasionally, Freelancer maxed out though...)
Oh, and the hard drive is at... Erhm, 24 gigs. Yay. Plus two external Maxtor harddrives at 80 gigs and one at 230.
...And it sounds like a jet engine and generates an extreme amount of heat.
Geforce 2 Go runs both Morrowind and anything older than 2002 brilliantly. And FL, if you're into that sort of thing.:PIf you want one they were only 5000-6000 USD back then...

I love my tiny computer, even though it was a pain in the rear to assemble.:ylove:
Really, good Mini-ITX builds can be quite damn time consuming and difficult to get just right. I think most people
that have tried to build any slightly more advanced small computer build will agree with me on that one... Only
thing I regret on this computer was not putting it in a Lego/other custom chassis as originally planned, but in the
end it got to advanced - I even had it up and running in a provisory Lego chassis for a while, and had quite a few
square meters of plexiglass/acrylic ready, but in the end it got too time consuming for me to finish (my previous
XPS 630i desktop was dead), so I had to go order the Q07 instead. Meh. Now I'll have quite some difficulties
finding a new short enough graphics card.:(
Other updates on the computer front: My computer is now absolutely maxed. Literally. I recently bought 4GB
of RAM for it (up to 8) and another hard drive, so there's no space at all left in the chassis - I just barely
managed to squeeze in a 4cm fan with strips and duct tape to try and cool the system to reasonable levels.
Before that the new hard drive that the graphics card now rests on was 1C from max temps all the time,
and the graphics card idled in the high 80s somewhere. :P
Next stop is probably SSD-land and/or a graphics card update somewhere down the line, probably to a 6670 or the new 7000 series, whenever that's out.
AMD Sempron 2400+ 1.67Ghz
1.5Gb of RAM9I don't know more about it)

HDD 80 GB
I have it for 7 years..(video board is new)
