Not nessesarily, as an Outcast, for example, I could shoot with minimal RP; Bundies, Unioners, Hessians, RM, RFP, LN, LPI, Xenos, Gaians, Pirate IDs, Coalition, KNF, KSP, Hogosha, FA, GMG, IMG, CR, BAF, BPA, BHG, BHG Core, Order, GRN, GRP, Council with the ability to pirate pretty much any corporate and indie ship.
Not to mention the nearly limitless ZoI and awesome tech.
' Wrote:The real loophole is that the ID is generic but also needs a diplomacy to function. Individual players have opted to make many different diplomacies, which is impossible to monitor, balance or justify, as this was effectively a instant terrorist ID with added cruiser and those AI guns. Introducing the Cannot fire in self defense part was prompted by an understanding of AI based on science fiction, that is to say, the idea that these things are not innately aggressive unless threatened. Like middle-aged teachers.
How this affects the VE faction is being discussed.
SkyNET. The TITANS. SHODAN. GLaDOS. AM. The Mechanoids. The Geth. Reapers.
All artificial intelligences that are vastly superior intelligence-wise, yet don't see situations as retaliatory things. They killed. Mercilessly.
Why can't our AI's do such?

I already have Mek-Quake.

' Wrote:Not innately aggressive makes perfect sense, and most people ought to choose to abide by that, although if they do not, they should have the freedom to make that choice. However, this means that any AI ship is unable to defend itself in the slightest way unless it suddenly notices its shields are below fifty percent. It's a completely, forgive the harsh language (which is not intended to be directed at anyone), idiotic decision that prevents any variety of awesome RP from occurring. An AI can no longer escort anyone because rulewise they're unable to defend the ship they're escorting unless they themselves are attacked. That's just one example of something that makes absolutely no sense in-RP. And since when have the ideas of Isaac Asimov determined how Disco works?
Also, the second someone files a sanction on me for having a Zoner AI Cruiser with a nomad fighter thruster, I'll be laughing.
Except I can't afford the cruiser part.
Idiot, which comes from the Greek meaning private, originally suggesting acts or decisions made without due consideration of one's public responsibility.
I recall correspondence with a player who had fired on traders he was escorting. He was worried because later someone (possibly the attacker of said traders) had told him he could only act in self-defense. The people who told him this were not aware that an escort is not someone who has come along for chat, sandwiches and the occasional foot rub. Moreover, if I see someone try to get someone sanctioned because they fired back before the shields hit 50% I may become upset. It's a rule I have proposed removing several times.

This is indeed what has happened.

This too is how I see the world. Maybe the Outcast ID needs a nerf. Just kidding. See my point below that has the phrase "expected to behave within certain parameters collectively" in it.

Because that would mean a freely available terrorist ID.

If you're going to restrict stuff, at least don't contradict yourselves across the board while doing it.. :|
I don't see where the contradiction is. AI cruisers go anywhere. Scyllas don't. At least we know that all Scyllas, generally speaking, can be expected to behave within certain parameters collectively.

I was thinking the same thing.

I'm wondering if we can resolve this and have a win-win situation.
You win: you get to roleplay.
We win: the server runs fair and smoothly.
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law."
here explain all about AI ID i think.. so restriction for that ID its good thing, because AI start transforming in to free terrorist ID.
;)
EDIT: i forgot zero law: "0. A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm."
