How long have you been playing Freelancer Discovery for?: 2 years
How long have you played a Junker character for, if at all? (Not important, it's just useful to know if you've played a Junker before. We accept both people who have and people who haven't played a Junker before):
Played a few independent Junker characters in the past, but I didn't get too much involved in the substantive RP. Thought this might be a good opportunity.
In your own words, how would you define a Quasi-Lawful?: Balancing opportunities and consequences. Successfully.
How familiar are you with the Borderworlds?: The best worlds.
How familiar are you with smuggling?: Is there something else?
How familiar are you with piracy?: Somewhat.
Why do you want to join the Junker Marauders? What can you offer?:
I'm down for activity, but I honestly wouldn't mind developing a full character. The Marauders seem fairly open to letting people be creative, and I would like to encourage that a bit.
Where are you from?: Freeport 5, Omega Border Worlds
Previous Jobs/Roles: High-Risk Salvage and EVA, Habitat Repair Technician, Courier
Detailed Background, a Paragraph (the more we can learn about you, the better): My birthplace is a station found in what many people familiar with the Border Worlds consider one of the most inhospitable systems in the Sirius sector. Living in the radioactive was from an active pulsar is not an existence which I would call "enjoyable", but my parents did raise me to cope well enough. During the course of my education, I developed the technical skills required to work on the salvage teams which supply the Freeport with the constant influx of scrap and electronics needed to survive under those hostile conditions. Much of my adult life has involved piloting cobbled-together freighter vessels with oversized engines in order to get to wreck sites - and more importantly, away from them - while minimizing exposure to ball-shrivelingly high amounts of gamma rays. I would consider myself a happy individual.
Why do you want to join the Junker Marauders? What can you bring to JM?: I've recently made a decision to leave my home station in order to preserve my health (many in my line of work tend to develop rapidly deteriorating health beyond age 35, due to the radiation) and to simply see more of Sirius. A healthy profit wouldn't hurt, of course. However, immigration into house space for those from Freeports which tend to lack up-to-date resident registration is a bit like trying to demolish an airlock with the sheer force of repeated headbutts. I see the Junker Marauders as a nice option for me, which allows me to travel fairly freely and continue my line of work with minimal bureaucracy. Speaking of which, I offer the JM almost a decade and a half of experience as a specialist in high-risk, high-volume technical salvage work, as well as light courier work.

Mr. Williams is not that sort of criminal; He is a businessman, not a thug. He pays his debts on time, he keeps the blood off his suit and his tie straight. Most importantly, though, he ensures that 'The Competition' is systematically dismantled before they are in a state to threaten him. In the event that isn't possible, he maintains a strict, low profile; Seizing a planet purely for its market is unfeasibly inefficient, same as kicking a hornet's nest for a handful of change.
'Jackdaw' isn't without his vices, however. He smokes like a London chimney, and maintains a healthy love affair with good scotch. On their own, not so bad - What's a gentleman without his salon, cigars, and drink? Unfortunately for his short term health, however, he's become somewhat enamored with the idea of piracy; In his own (inebriated) words "Y'mean I get to screw people over and get paid to do it? Where do I sign?" - In a more sober moment, "I'd like to take a more hands-on approach to the acquisition of my goods"
Why do you want to join the Junker Marauders? What can you bring to JM?:
Common thugs are a dime a dozen; We both know you don't need more of those. What any organization needs is leaders; People neck-deep in the thick of things. People putting together runs, raids, and wrecks. I won't say I'm one of those; Not yet. I'm far too inexperienced to issue good orders, and far too much of a nobody for people to listen. What I will say is 'Give it time' - If I commit myself to you and your organization, it'll pay off in spades.
"Common thugs are a dime a dozen. Lieutenants and Officers are worth their weight in artifacts."

How long have you been playing Freelancer Discovery for?:
Five days. Ish. I played a lot of Discovery way back in 4.85, but that was years ago; Any competency or contacts I had back then have long since eroded. I've maintained baseline competency - I can fly, I can shoot, I can play the game, and I think I can do it fairly well. A passing scan of the average freighter in New York reveals that I'm a cut above the average newbie; In that my shields and guns are properly sized, my cargo is homogenous, my name is not MLGPR0 and I'm buying low/selling high. I've got baseline competency, but advanced play is something I haven't had a chance to learn. (Way back when, I played as KE|Money.Train, Discovery PTC, Junker Smuggler)
How long have you played a Junker character for, if at all? (Not important, it's just useful to know if you've played a Junker before. We accept both people who have and people who haven't played a Junker before):
If you're counting Way Back When, a few months. If not, then not at all.
In your own words, how would you define a Quasi-Lawful?:
Freedom.
A lawful character is bound to doing lawful things, with lawful people, in lawful systems. Likewise, an unlawful character is bound to doing unlawful things, with unlawful people, in unlawful systems.
A quasi-lawful can go almost anywhere and do almost anything - I can go where I please, haul what I please, and interact with whomever I please, all within the bounds of plausibility. I can't flip between Gold and Cardamine on a Gateway Shipping ID, just like using tradelanes and jumpgates as an Outcast is a character-breakingly bad idea. As a Freelancer? Junker? Nowhere is off-limits; Sirius is my oyster, and I'm off to find the pearl.
On the meta side of that, I feel that deliberately restricting yourself, in a space game, runs contrary to the entire point of setting the game in space. There's a whole galaxy out there, man. If you just run Niobium all day, then what's the point of Omega-41's Neutron Star? Or Omega-11's ship-eating red-giant radiation? Space, as a setting, as a broadest-strokes genre, is ALL about the unknown and the Cool Shit in it. Regardless of RP, if you just stick to the highways (or lowways) you're missing half the point of the setting. That, right there, is why I can't really see myself signing on to any Big Space-Owning Organization, lawful or not. Why would I willingly tie my own leash to a tree?
How familiar are you with the Borderworlds?:
7/10 - I can navigate previously travelled routes, and pick up new ones with FLCompanion. I don't know all the back-roads and jumphole corridors; If you ask me to navigate Tau to Omega, I'm gonna run through Bretonian lanes and gates. On the other side of that, if you run me on a route a few times I'll pick it up. Freelancer Companion is an incredible asset to have, but it won't think for me.
How familiar are you with smuggling?:
6/10 - I like doing it; I find it far more exciting and rewarding than ordinary trading. The other day I stumbled across the Detroit/Crete/Manhattan run, and I recall a Texas/Malta/Manhattan run from way back when. Past that, nothing. That said, I'd imagine it's mostly in knowing routes, alternates, and avoiding police/pirates. I lack knowledge, but I have aptitude and interest.
How familiar are you with piracy?:
1/10 - Not, but tentative interest. I know enough to know that I don't know anything at all. The entirety of my combat experience has either been against NPCs in the noobship, or in my nigh-invulnerable Freighter/Transport. The finer arts of maneuver combat are something that I don't even know where to start on.
On the other hand, any schmuck can point a SNAC at a transport and say "gibe emony pls huehuehue" ; If you're going to 'pirate' like that, you might as well play Flappy Birds for all the fun you'll both have. Piracy isn't just fighting - In fact, there's a case to be made that if it turns to fighting, something went wrong somewhere. Someone in the GMG pointed me at a very nice video-intro to the subject; Piracy is as much an RP experience as not. You're being someone else's villain, someone else's worst luck; Shooting them 4noraisin is a waste of that encounter's potential.
On the third hand, what's the point of trading, heck playing at all, if you're just going to watch your bank account scrawl upwards? Combat is half the game, and in most space games, it's a half that I enjoy far more so than trading. My main barrier here is knowledge and skill; both of which can be attained.
Why do you want to join the Junker Marauders? What can you offer?:
Honestly? I think JM is right for me.
Left to my own devices, I'd probably pick up a Smuggler, Junker, or Freelancer ID on my trader. Once I've got enough money, my plan is to grab a bomber or similar high-powered fighter (Recycler? Bulldog? Virage? Havoc II?) and become some mixture of pirate, mercenary, and space asshole.
The other factions I'd consider joining? I don't know, honestly. The Junker Congress might be up my alley, but they say they forbid piracy or other offensive combat. I don't like carebearing; our ships have guns for a reason. Maybe IMG? But mining is something that doesn't really interest me. House Militaries and House Pirates are also a no-go; see above, tying myself to a tree and hoping something comes close enough to bite. Even if you reject my application, I'd appreciate it if you could point me somewhere else; Ultimately, a varied experience is what I want, and I think JM provides that more than most other factions.
Finally, what is your Skype?:
