@Tonto: I'm going to Eurocopter school FOR the military as I take care of EC145 helos at my unit. I believe that Dallas Air Medical flies them.
@Marburg: I'm there most of July so I'm sure we can find some time. KC? My favorite football team plays there. GO CHIEFS!!
And yes, if Maiden is playing, we're gone!
@Dancing Lady: Most of my friends are online. As Marburg said, if I decide to connect with someone, they've earned my trust AND I meet them in a public place.Years ago I met up with a group of my online friends at a buddy's house, flying to Georgia from New Hampshire to go. We had the time of our lives. No one got raped, mugged, murdered or robbed.....unless it was in the game server we built for the weekend.
@Agmen: I have a brother in Lawton, OK, also about 3 hrs out. I'm undecided on heading up that way. I intended to spend much of my free time at a waterpark on the weekend OR the hotel pool. I'm a Yankee who dislikes heat in the Texas summer. I remember Texas heat from the summer of 1988 when I was there. I don't imagine it's changed much.
If anyone wants to hook up, we'll make arrangements in PM. I don't bite....promise!
Doc i envy you.. From my childhood i wanted to be an pilot of the airforce. Sadly i was never accepted due to some medical issue i had from my birth. Something which i did outgrow within the years. But it was a reason for not accepting me.

If you could hop a flight from Dallas to Fort Sill, you'd be set for Lawton. Otherwise there's just no direct way there. And for what it's worth, the heat down here hasn't changed much from 1988. So basically plan on it being above 100 every day you're here, and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

@Duvelske: I only crew them. Mostly, I am a technician. Why? I like fixing things and pilot's need heros too ya know!!
@Agmen: I'll have rental car. Not sure if I will go to Lawton or not but I don't plan to sit board over my weekends too nor will I run in Texas heat. I'm hearing something about "The Stockyards" of Ft. Worth.

The Stockyards are great if you enjoy a Western atmosphere. Rodeos, and the like. Its a nice place to visit, but since you'll be here during our Extreme Hot season(we have no other seasons, its either mildly warm or blazing hot) your best bet is to go after 6 pm to avoid the real heat. Also....keep the Yankee thing to yourself, we don't take too kindly to your kind 'round here. Fake a Southern accent if you have to.
Since you mentioned water parks, I'll just throw this out there, Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, TX (My town and right between Dallas/Ft. Worth, best bet is to take I-30 into Arlington. If you find roller coasters, you're in the general area) is a good "thrill" park if you want to be in water all day. Its a bit pricey however, as its over toward the "Upscale" part of town. NR-H20 is a more economical water park, more pools than slides. The downside is a lot more kids, so be prepared for that. Schlitter Baun is the considered one of the best in Texas, but be prepared for a drive and with the title of the best comes a hefty entrance fee.
If you're staying in Dallas, I'd suggest staying around their Downtown area if you decide to see the city. A lot of great food joints and entertainment in that area, but most importantly, stay in that area at night. If anyone you are with mentions anything about a Stop Six, stay far away from it. I'm not even playing on this one, this information could save lives. It is as Ghetto as you can get in Texas, and cops do not patrol that area regularly.
With all that said, though we've never met in-game or even talked on the forums, I hope you have a wonderful trip down to our Lone Star State.

Tonto, I'm not too worried being a Yankee down there. I don't fake accents unless a theater part requires it, I only mention where I'm from if asked and from my previous visit there in 1988, I like Texas......and Texans!
I'll be staying at a Best Western suite. Not sure where it's all going to be in relation to things but I have a big pool to swim laps in.
I do have a small side mission there. I have a friend who is disabled and loves the Cowboys. I intend to bring him something back as he's been a fan his whole life.

Take him Jerry Jones. Or Tony Romo. That MIGHT make the Cowboys a real football team - it certainly couldn't hurt.
Although it's probably cheer him up a lot more if you took him Romo's wife ...
It'd cheer me up...
Oh, and one other minor comment - Cowboys suck!
