woa! the first one HAS to be a replacement for the ravens talon! Not only that the shape is similar, the "claws" could be used for small time salvage operations. Would perfectly fit, since its an IMG ship :ylove:

For the shape: Well, the claws could be reasonable in a way, but i would change the feathers in the back to a rather homogeneous wing.
Edit: hm ... maybe change these feathers in the back to one of the raven's talon's engine-endings? this way you would find a good balance, I believe.

@second ship: well, its not that bad. If you change the flippers to rather aerodynamic wings, it would be a good gaian fighter.

I agree, the raven's talon could easily be replaced with that first model.

As for the feathered 'tail', just take out everything in the middle, make it two thin 'struts' going out at angles, and then a curved thing connecting them.

but - i made that thread not really about the models ( both models are kinda crap ) - but about.... how abstract should a FL ship still be. - considering we re playing almost a century past the singleplayer events .... can we imagine the cooperations to build more ornamented stuff?

or should things go another direction.... its a question about progress in design and how rich a model / shiphull can be.

We don't care what you wanted to know! We see new Jinx models that we like!

I'd argue against, as it is a serious departure from what is freelanceresque...
Just..too far, in my opinion. Too far.

I may get flamed for what I am about to say but I dont care.

Human nature is to evolve, to change, and to make things better. Now DA had thier way with FL and made it the game they wanted it to be. Now why cant we make the choicce to sur-pass them. why cant we even start changing the Vanilla models. Things change thats the way of it. As I have said before, this should be OUR mod.
Lets make it into Discovery Freelancer in stead of Discovery Freelancer

Funny enough I agree.
I think we should be making our own models, making them better.
Theres no need to stay with blocky. From some other threads I gather it
is easy enough to make smooth ships, that dont lag or have more or less the same
amount of polys. That and if we introduce smooth we could have specific
looks for certain factions. Gaians could have smooth ships while Liberty Navy
could have blocky (being a common military trait) for example.

I'm not suggesting we move away from Freelancer, im suggesting we improve their looks.
Something to think about.
