liberty isn't actually that bad most days (xeno char ) Just hover above the plane and RP if thats what you want. Also LSF might want to boost security in a certain minefield
2 battleships is sooo oorp to deal with a fighter, Liberty factions should realise that. and you have to think about how much power and energy you'll be wasting trying to hit him with you're BS too, in RP orcourse.

switching from a fighter to a batltefleet is unreasonble and by limiting this stuff you don t get anything better but more violation reports. - i don t think its much about the capital ships for that matter as you are mostly invulnerable against a capship when you re flying a fighter. - but of course, you must ask yourself.... when you re a pirate, is manhatten really the best place to hang around? - even NPCs fly raid group patrols there ( battleship, 2 cruisers, 4 fighters ) ... and if these were as dangerous as player controlled ships... would you hang out there, too?
pvp is down to whats necessary - and its up to the player himself to control it. - last time i had a fight against two QCO guys. - the fight lasted like 30 minutes or something, and i got bored cause all that happened was doding around and occasionally hitting each others shields.
i simply retreated ( docked ) and swallowed the 4 hours lockout - cause its simply no fun to pvp like that. - mind, there is no rule to force them or me to do anything and we could have gone on for ages. - pvp is what happens to two sides, not only one. - when i m in a fighter facing a warship patrol, i retreat. - but i don t get angry at them. - why should i ... i m overpowered, and when i retreat, i simply don t enter the system for 4 hours, cause it would put my char into danger of death.
it doesn t need a rule for that. - when i face a greater force that i cannot beat, i run. - thats what makes it interesting. why should the defender suffer / or the attacker - just cause the other side is too weak?
( except for switching from a fighter to a battleship ) - being outnumbered, outgunned is what is part of RP. - pvp is where you try to balance stuff.. RP is where you try NOT to balance battles.
Yeah... I'ma agree with Jinx here. Oh, and I think I was one of those QCRF! I remember you... >.< dang Chimera. And, of course the annoying swarms of Gaian NPC fighters. Anyways, I digress. In-RP, you shouldn't be right up at Manhattan in a GS. Now, they certainly didn't need to bring out some battleships to deal with a little gunship, but if you're sitting next to a capital planet, then it'll happen even when you think logically about it. After all, those battleships are already deployed about the planet, right?
i fully agree, something similar happened to me just last night. I take my lone fighter into liberty, didnt engage anyone. A liberty player sees me with a pirate ID, engages, and within 30 seconds I had 5 fighters, 2 transports, a bomber, and a destroyer all attacking me. It's ridiculous...

THAT is absurd. I remember you mentioning this before. That shouldn't happen. If you happen to wander into West Point, or Manhattan, or into the path of a military patrol including large ships, THEN it's OK, but people shouldn't home their battleships in on some random pirate fighter.

I was flying alongside the trade lane near the liberty rogue destroyer. A junker was pirating that trade lane nearby (we were not grouped, and I denied his group invites several times - as the black lance does not pirate traders). The initial guy there was a liberty navy player in a guardian, he went off about pirates between west point/cali in systems chat and then engaged. The junker fled the scene, so the guardian turned against me, and I ended up solo against a friggen fleet of players.
Please, for the love of god, get this damn war between liberty and rheinland started already. If liberty players are so bored that they feel the need to completely overwhelm a single fighter like that, something is wrong.
PvP is fascinating. It is a core component of a game that people strive to excel at, without overdoing it.
The lane from WP to the Cali JG is a problem spot. It's not entirely fair to point the finger at the lawful factions alone. Solitary lawful LFers have had to face a gunship and bomber; lone VHFers have been attacked by TWO gunboats in the same spot. There is still the odd OC dessie around there. Order idiots have been known to "raid" WP and refuse advice to clear off.
There are three solutions.
One, everyone mature about five to ten years overnight. Check who is actually fighting and ask, or better yet decide yourself, if you are needed. If you're in a big ship, show a little courtesy. This does happen more.
Two. Avoid place like NY. It's a breath of fresh air leaving there. Anyone expecting to not get swarmed in the centre of the civilised galaxy should know better. That's what jumpholes are for.
Three. Accept that minor annoyances like this happen.
I don't entirely agree with limiting it 1 versus 1. What's wrong with 2 or 3 LFers taking on a VHF or a bomber? This allows some fluidity to the game regarding tactics and encourages co operative play.
In time the people who swarmed you will realise that there is probably more fun to losing a fight heroically or doing the sensible thing and running for your life than making someone else blow up. No one really gains respect for kills, not in my book anyway, and a enemy who allows a man to run for his life shows a sense of mercy and compassion that is probably truer to real life than any sense of triumph achieved through a kill.
In responce to the first post. No. PVP should not be limited, there are already to many nerfed aspects of battle now.
Whorage is a myth. People use what they have when it happens if you brought a knife to a gun fight, then it sucks to be you.
Next ever notice cap battles NEVER last more than 5-10 minutes yet fighter battles seem to take decades.
Because Cpas are nerfed to comedy and fighters buffed to maddness. If anything a Cap should always have more repair ability than a fighter. After all who was built for long range missions?
Anyway if this server were to go to "hello/goodbye" RP then I'm gone.
Live alittle dangerously its a game and if RP gets you killed so what respawn.
Only the first sentense was ment for the thread poster the rest, is for who ever the shoe fits.
Another question, why does everyone seem to act that power useage has gotten so ineffiecent in the future when we can run a submarine(basically a space ship under water) for 20+ years with no refueling needed. They surface for sunlight and food. We can even recycle air.
