I agree Monk. The faction rating is dropping like a Italian Rat attached to concrete shoes (bad pun, I know). However I'm trying to circumvent that by doing events once I'm back in the states (how many times have I said "Once I'm back in the states? Anyone got a tally? -.-).
The problem with having a mass amount of numbers on, as I've discovered last night when I was on my HG along with the others, is when you pirate the hell out of one system, people start getting moody, irritable, and they start avoiding the system. Oh look, there goes Roleplay right out the window...oh look, fun is right behind it.
People are scared to get reported anymore for little things, and I think that's the reason factions aren't on enmass anymore. Just my thoughts though, others may be different.

You fear oblivion. Yet you forget. The universe remembers every atom of your being. Even dust hums your name in the dark.
Perhaps the factions ought to do some more advertising etc? Instead of simply sitting back and watching numbers dwindle, go out and actively recruit people. Don't shove yourselves into their faces but remind them you are here and the benefits of being in a faction.
I've not been here long but I've noticed a general drift towards drama etc and less and less tolerance by people.
You could say 'It's just a game' but I frankly don't like that line. If we played it like 'just a game' then you might as well throw away RP BUT what I would say is to sit back and relax.
I use to trade like a mad person and spent well over 40 hours getting properly set up (Lost my account, May have lost my second one now too) simply to ensure I could get whatever equipment or ship I wanted. However since I've been using my 3rd account, I've been flying a Kiith Light Fighter with under 1 million credits and having more fun than I've had since I've joined.
The world does not depend on you getting that kill or finishing that trade run. Your Roleplay should come first and foremost and even though you may be forced to take a slightly longer route than needed, you'll get a warm fuzzy feeling inside for doing it the RP way.
So yes, rather long tangent from the topic.
Only complaints I have are this:
- Battleships etc need major upgrading. They are meant to be a checkmate move, not big targets.
- The Supernova needs downgrading in line with the above
Actually, RM seems to be getting a steady stream of new applicants. I think you must just be in the wrong time zone, or play at different times. I'm afraid I've been a bit less active of late, but that's mostly due to the fact that I was at a cabin for a week, and now have a large number of family members over.
Personally, I don't know why people think that Rheinland is a "ghost town" because last night we had >5 RM on for over an hour an a half, and smaller numbers most of the day. We even got a propaganda shot of a cruiser, two gunboats, and three fighters taken.
The Rheinland Military is pretty huge at the moment, tons of members that are fairly active.
Liberty Rogues is the biggest it's ever been (so much so we cut off recruitment).
