the phantoms are meant to be scary with their own set of RP.... but the bigger actions recently were less "scary" and appeared more to be "educational". the phantoms are not meant to kill ooRP and ooc chatters. - thats what the rules are for.
they are meant to execute their roleplay. - so i wouldn t like to expect them to show up in sigma-13 "cause so many traders exploit that route" but cause there is a solid RP reason FOR THEM to be there - and the victims should understand the reason for that.
the phantoms should not fly to new york to fight the sillyness of some players - but they as enemies of the inner systems should make a RP event out of it... are there stories, how they departed with a fleet from their sanctuary to one of the best defended core systems? - was it roleplayed ... ( other than killing ooRPers etc. )
if thats the case, everything is fine.... if not, i gotto slightly agree.. then it was just coercion for an educational purpose and focussed on pvp punishment.
Change the name of your topic please. This appears to be only directed towards the group know as "Phantoms" , but you make it seem like all terrorirst ( Mon'Star , Prospector and Keepers ) are PvP whores wich is BY FAR not the case.
I don't know what happend in NY thats why I wont put any comment on that.
The only thing that I don't like about the Phantoms so far is , that for a faction wich has SO MUCH potential and interest in it , they don't realy appear to be active both in the forums and in game. I would realy like to see more stories and information about them in the forums and more in-game presence.
Hm, I was there last night, and it was one of the better encounters with the Phantoms.
I died (I think, since when I logged in I was docked) when my internet died, so that kinda spoiled it a bit for me.
But as far as I know, they weren't in the lanes, they were going near the lanes, on cruise engines.
I agree with Jinx in a way too, and I'd like to see some of their new goals implemented, other then kill all lawfuls.
And whatever you say about them not being 'scary', it's just not true.
Example, a LPI officer PM-ed all high level players (Yeah, even RHA, doh) to come to NY to kill the Phantoms, since they can't be countered by anyone in NY.
That sounds scary to me.
What I didn't like, however, was that they found a moment where in NY there are 0 lawfuls.
I dwell there sometimes during the night, and it's mostly me +1,2 lawfuls against hordes (literally) of pirates in all sorts of ships.
I guess they can't change their timezone, however, so I can't complain.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
I have to say, their encounters, speach and intimidation levels are dropping.
I have yet so see one go "OOC" They do talk, but I'm not entirely sure how they talk. So I can't say for sure.
If smart arse comments and rudeness is their way of speech/RP, then they do it well.:P
I want to see a Phantom comment on the situation.
By the way, I was no way inferring they came to blow ooRPers and ooc players out of New York. I simply meant that this event did it some good. The lag finally came to a halt for about 15 minutes and others started role playing, because there where no others to annoy, discourage and/or distract them.
If Phantoms are near neutral/friendly with majority of the unlawful/pirate factions, I see no harm in them showing up every now and then to show everyone who is boss.
Same kind of deal with the Keepers.
From my point of view, the Terrorist ID is an earned PvP whoring license. If the earn it by writing a story about their cause, then it is up to the recieving end to look that story up and find a reason behind their death.
Just my opinion:)

Simply put, the Phantoms are Terrorists. Their mandate calls for the destruction of all four major house governments. Storming NY is a tradition for them. Indeed, the Phantoms are so busy IRL that the fact that they managed to get enough (wo)men on for a romp into New York is a good sign.

theyre worse than Xenos because they appearently can get battleships
I will have to agree that its a bit of a stretch for them to appear near Manhattan that is supposed to be guarded by a battleship. Appearing in NY is fine but blowing things up right in front of the capital of Liberty is a bit much.
People complain when the indie outcasts do it so they should complain then the Phantoms do it.
