Parts idea -GENIUS
I enjoy RP over PvP any day, so a mix of the two but focus on RP? For a pirate faction.

Yet i like that you have closed recruiting, despite that its just for testing at the moment.
It filters the different kind of people and i like the idea.
Maybe Tweak the idea for fighters and bombers with parts to make things not to easy.
But overall, one of the best factions i have seen for a very long time.
Tell me when i can join, i am very interested to put my RP skills to the test, this faction is a god send.
@"Protégé" Very good Logo.
Thank you for the feedback!
The group has PVP elements in it due to the ID we are using, but the primary focus is on roleplay and the development of the character you create. Instead of using tags, you will be making a name for yourself much like an indie character, but with the added benefit of a faction-type organization and gameplay. It is a mix that, hopefully, is attractive enough for people to try.
The current group is going through what we would like to think is field testing - mostly regarding the parts system. Before we open the recruitment, we would like to be sure that the influx of new people will not knock around the overall balance of parts you use for the ships.
As far as fighters and bombers are concerned, those ships are cheap to repair precisely so that the player does not feel too bad about losing one. Those two ship types are not that expensive to repair or create so that a player with poor pvp-skills would feel as though they are causing the group some sort of damage with constantly ending up on the wrong side of the blue message.

After a very brief discussion on how Recruitment should be handled, we have updated the first post with the following guidelines. Every once and a while we will be opening up two new slots for new members, thus allowing said people to ease into the group a bit more seamlessly.
Quote:Recruitment
Due to the focus on character RP and development, all potential recruitees are strongly encouraged to create a character and get some ground work regarding their motivations and ambitions before you send in an application. Get some forum and ingame RP going, get some ties and once that is done - post them in the recruitment thread. While you can have your character join with any ship you want, the moment you start flying with us, you will be placed under the restrictions of the Parts system. Meaning that if you choose to join with a large ship such as a gunboat or even a cruiser, chances are that you will need to put in much more effort not to drain the shared stock of parts other members have gathered. As such, joining with a smaller ship is easier.
The faction has started off with 8 ''slots'' for members and the number of participants will increase along with the amount of slots we have. We will be letting in two people at a time and allowing them acclimatize to the faction itself and its workings. The same is expected the other way around, allowing existing members to get to know both the player and the character they have. This is, again, one of the unique features of the group as it lacks a strict hierarchy and the characters interact on a level field.

This is probably going to be one of the last couple of additions to the writeup with the Diplomacy chart coming up next. The SRP sponsorship has been chosen as another unique feature of the group in order to promote roleplay and a person's investment in their character. This sponsorship only covers the 250million credit prerequisite, leaving all RP related effort to the faction member to provide. While there is no clear cut rule on how elaborate these SRPs should be, we hope that the faction member will consider investing for something with actual worth, knowing that their monetary expenses are covered by other people.
Quote:Faction Sponsored SRP
Due to the nature of our group and focus on progressing your individual characters, the faction's bank will be used to fund the 250mil SRP application requests for faction members. While the specifics and terms of these sponsorships will vary based on the person involved, the overall goal of this system is to promote the person's investment and the chance to ''have nice things'' as a subsequent result of their RP efforts. Obviously, the roleplay backing up the SRP claim is completely up for the individual to decide and work on. Members are also allowed to contribute to the bank to help sponsor their faction buddies in the future. Right now this is the only use for the faction bank.

After a brief discussion regarding the recent events connected to our sanction, a few amendments were made to the Parts Chart found in the first post. We decided to, hopefully temporarily, remove guns being salvaged for parts until the administration team adjusts the ID lines and server rules regarding demands to a point where such demands cause less confusion. Apparently something is being done about it, but since there is no ETA on that, disabling this sort of demand for now would be the wiser choice.
Further changes have been made to amount of Parts being salvaged from killed transports. Due to the increase in silent traders, the value of salvage from Small, Medium, Large transports as well as Liners have all been reduced from 10 to 5 parts in order to avoid it from disrupting our economy.
Last but not least, the Recruitment is being finalized. After testing the overall group viability for half a month, we are ready to accept new members. A post regarding recruitment will be posted soon and we will be limiting our numbers to 10 people right now. The idea of bringing in two or so people at a time will allow us to allow them adapt to what is essentially a rather unconventional type of faction a bit more easily.
Thank you for your feedback both on the forum, PMs and Skype.

Now that you are, for the moment at least, not taking guns for salvage and only have ship destruction as a way of gathering salvage how will interactions take place?
I was led to believe that there would be no cargo or credit piracy in this faction.

No, there is - of course - credit and cargo piracy as well. It is just that the group was meant to promote more varid and interesting ways in making piracy demands in general. Being able to get parts by blowing of equipment from transports as a separate demand (meaning that you demand either cargo OR credits OR blow off guns) was mostly to make it easier to get them, especially if the people involved want to fly a bigger ship than a snub. If you check the chart you will notice that the whole thing above a transport gets a bit..expensive.
But with the sanction in mind there is still a bit of a problem here.
The admins involved have in the end stated the following
Quote:
Which is more or less understandable, but leads to a very personal opinion and interpretation of IRP mechanics on what demands would fall under this category. Basically it means ''if you are going to ask something other than credits or cargo, do it at your own risk'' for us right now. Not really sure how to feel about that.
Apparently there is something being done right now to improve the situation, but that is hard to say what it is or when it is getting implemented right now.
A few years back it was a common occurrence to just shoot off a turret or two while you waited for the money, now people are oversensitive. It doesn't help.

would your group be interested in joining this event as the unlawful side? We are in need of some pirates misunderstood pilots to help balance things out, also the whole hold the liner hostage might make you a pretty penny

It highly depends. Again, it is not so much would Dawson Rogues participate, but rather would the characters participate. It boils down whether or not the current peeps in the faction have characters who would have a reason to participate in that run. I am not completely sure we currently have a character in the group that would exploit any situation or use the chance to take hostages in exchange for something. I cannot tell my guys to go and participate, but rather leave it to them if they have any ideas to use that event to promote the RP of their own individual characters. It all depends on their RP goals and choices.
My own character, Frederik, would probably not see the situation worth risking for as there is no clear reward for it.

The recruitment is kinda...odd. Basically every now and again we open two slots that are filled by people who would like to try this out. This gives us a chance to implement their chosen RP into the group and let them get to know the group and other characters as well. Once both the new guys and the old guys are situated with one another, we open a new pair of slots.
We recently accepted two peeps already, so the next batch will be yoinked in as soon as things settle.
