The Print Screen is a bit bad. The lag is caused by the relatively huge bmp files the FL has to save to the folder. The comp has to write to hard drive that amount of stuff and all the data goes through the CPU. So if you have a single core or slow CPU and on top of it a slow HD (CPU can not do anything else during writing or reading operations) and not too much memory then those screenies can take a while to be saved to the disk.

A while ago I had the similar 2-3 s freeze up when using the PrnSrn. I used FRAPS and had tied FRAPS' screenshot function conveniently to PrnSrn for obvious reasons. I later realised that that I took screens to 2 different folders; one the FL and the other FRAPS'. No wonder it got stuck for 2-3 secs. After I bound the FRAPS screening to different button and use that only I get no lag at all really. So I'm firmly believing that the main reason for a relatively long freeze-ups is due to huge file sizes.

Flying under radar.

Use FRAPS for screenshots, and you can set them to save as JPGs so saving is reduced dramatically.

I'm one of the lucky ones.
I get a barely perceptible "twitch" to my screen when I PrtSc.
Surprisingly too since I run Windows Vista on 1 GB of RAM.
Not exactly the most game friendly OS.

Since the laptop I have conveniently doesn't have a PrtSc button - gotta hit FN PrtSc - I've been mostly doing without.

But I still get only a slight, maybe half a second delay when I do hit it. My laptop is a dual core Pentium with 2 GB RAM, and I keep a 4 GB memory stick in one of the USB slots for Windows Virtual Memory.

What I've done, though, is install FRAPS so I've got the screenshot set to F9, and I'm good to go. I average 20 fps when playing normally, drops to 18fps when recording a screenshot, 16 or so when I'm recording video.

I get the delay too. Kinda mad when I am taking a nice screenshot in battle then I am dead afterwards.

I get them as well, but using fraps or another program does reduce the time drastically.

Only if you have a paid copy. The trial version saves them in bmp as the default FL PrnScr does.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.
