I seriously doubt that, considering they can fight only in self-defense. Maybe if there would be POB near some of their bases which would be on full hostile mode, but I don´t think they can willy nilly attack POB somewhere in neutral Omega system.

In my experience ever since I've joined disco, I've concluded that Hessians and Corsairs are the two most trigger happy playerbases when it comes to POBs. I haven't seen indies from any other NPC faction who have as much voracity when it comes to bases. It doesn't matter if the POB is placed in a mining field or at a jump hole/gate, or if it is placed in an activity hub or in the middle of nowhere, or whether it's the most beneficial POB to the server or the most detrimental POB to the server. They'll shoot it for the sake of shooting it because they can. So the reason why it blew up boils down to:

In theory Zoner's shouldn't attack a base unless it violates one of the laws of the Confederation of Freeports, even then we usually opt to talk to them first

Tis usually a good idea for new bases such as these to affiliate with a player faction capable of fielding capitals that can defend it-- even at the cost of monthly taxes. As with most things: communication is key.
