Any way to have it tossed into space (see very first cutscene in SP), but not make it possible to tractor it in/destroy it/etc? Sort of like battleship debris?
Now, you say "Easy coding idea"... And do you have the idea how to code that? Because I don't. Infocards and names of items are saved in the game DLLs as text. I have no idea how you could make that text change dynamically.
Well, maybe not pods, but some sort of logs thingy that shows the details of the destroyed ship, including charname, ship type, and perhaps more? Though I still have no clue how to code that.:P
EDIT: If it would include charname, iff, id and ship type it would help A LOT with bounties.
Make it a static object, not a commodity...I know that cannon has been tinkering with the idea of tossing out scrap metal and such that -wasn't- in your hold as you explode, via fl hook, and we could engineer ship fragments to be tossed from each ship...but, I think, it would take a massive amount of modeling to even come close to covering the huge number of available ships...
*wises exploded vanilla/non vanilla ships would turn into debris that looks like your vessel sans all 'components'/just the ship drifting aflame in space*
What we could do is make a commodity called escape pod, give it a universal buy/sell price and have one drop each time a players hip dies.
Or, this would be harder for cannon to do, we could have the player ship drop a pilot that corispondes to thier ID card. So if you are Unioner, and unioner pilot is droped or etc.

Of course the problem there is that, sadly, every time one of us gave up the ghost we would be in a bit of a spot.
