' Wrote:Factions can refer to player or NPC ones.. Thats why we call player groups 'Player Factions,' not just 'Factions.'
Also Zelot, I believe both Junyo and Kyushu are Kusari State Police planets. That is, owned by the government. Samura only has Kurile, which consists of nothing but a small ocean platform. It'd be counted as a base, at best. Planets aren't always these great big things of power.. Sometimes they are small things with only a single base/settlement or two. Such as Kurile.
Planet Kyushu infocard
Quote:
Kyushu has few appreciable mineral resources
but does possess arable land and an ideal
climate for rice farming. While the independent
farmers of Kyushu provided much of the basic
Food stuffs for New Tokyo for over three
centuries, a recent Shogunate directive to
further develop the planet has resulted in Samura assuming control under government
contract. Samura has organized the farmers into
collectives growing new, genetically engineered
rice purchased from Samura's labs in New Tokyo.
But the farmers have had difficulty recouping
their investment as Synth Foods products have
grown more popular among young Kusari.
So Samura controls planet Kuyshu
As to Junyo, Junyo is in fact completly owned by Samura.
While it depends on where you draw the line for where a faction ends, I'd say the Gaians would be richer than the LWB or Unioners. The Unioners might smuggle and pirate, but the Gaians have a legitimate supporter with significant influence on Planet Cambridge. The LWB might be in a similar situation, but most of Stuttgart is controlled by Synth Foods and its corporate allies, so it's a lot less.
I don't mean to suggest that IC is nationalized. Just that I see the houses as their own economic unit, not the companies within. Even so...Liberty must have more funding than IC, just to support the militiary and intelligence infrastructure it has. Planetform is, in my opinion, the richest Bretonian Corporation, and possibly richer than any other corporation, it builds planets, and if no one else understands the sort of investment and profits such a company could reap, when its primary customers are a pair of houses...populations of hundreds of millions are paying for it, rather than the product of...a few thousand, few hundred thousand, maybe a million IC employees? (IC employees actually do pay into the Liberty infrastructure)
To the argument of Samura's power, doesn't Synth foods own Stuttgart? Stuttgart is, according to its infocard, the -best- planet for growing things in Sirius, and then Synth foods is established in Rhienland and Liberty, and is gaining popularity in Kusari, in opposition to Samura's wishes...I'd imagine, then, that Synth has more clout than Samura, if Samura cannot maintain its monopoly.

We are not talking about clout, although to argue that Synthfood has more clout than Samura is ridiculous when considering that Samura almost runs the Kusari government. Samura has more assets than any other faction (I may be wrong, I didn't count, but I cant think of any other with more) That is a statement about the actual worth of Samura, it is not a statement on it's clout or who it is grouped with, this is a objective measure of the value of Samura.
Edit: About the Synthfoods thing. Synthfoods does not own Stuttgart, it instead owns many independent and cooperative farms on Stuttgart. Big difference.
Zelot, the infocard is saying that Samura took over the farmers and development of Kyushu. In no way does Samura OWN the planet. Under Kusari's governmental leadership, it controls the development of the planet. Control isn't ownership. A naval admiral may control his fleet, but he certainly doesn't own it, and he is under contract from the government to do it.
Also, Samura is definitely not more powerful than Zoners..
Freeport 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 (destroyed, but did exist), 9, 10, 11, 15, Ames Research Station, Corinth Research Station, Sparta, Livadia Shipyards, Corfu, Lanzarote, and planet Gran Canaria, which is a fully-populated planet, not just a planet with a few little mining platforms, like Kurile and Junyo. Zoners are the most powerful under the houses, OC, and Corsairs. And the wealthiest under the houses. They do business with everyone. The same people the houses and their corporations do.. PLUS the unlawfuls like Corsairs and Outcasts. They get money from everywhere. Not to mention they are the biggest supplier of food to Crete, of which they gauge the prices and legally rob the Corsairs.
GMG actually has more installations than mentioned
Aomari Station in Honshu
2 dockable miners: Naha and Ogashawa
2 dozen undoackable miners (oughta count pulls in huge profits on top of two above)
Sakhalin Station in Sig 59
Naiigata Station, a very recently constructed huge base for new HQ, synth dome and all.
And I hear of a new Miner Fujisawa being added to pump more profits in.
GMG should be very high on that list
