I don't wish to name names, but I can give examples of numerous amounts of things that I'd (personally) consider lore breaking. I can PM examples of the things I listed in the OP if you'd like.
Yes please PM them to me. So i know what not to do. ;3

Generally only the shitty players end up pursuing Mary Sue shit for longer than, like, maybe their first year if I'm being generous.

Hi Omicega! Why are you here? Did you get killed by predators too? When do we shoot benomorphs again?

I'll second that and add that this is what you get from a democracy. The only reason Disco finds itself in it's current state is through popular demand. Colonial Republic was created from a shameless import of battlestar galactica back in the day and it attracted dozens of players and turned the taus into a really fun place to be. Sure it stuck out like a sore thumb when compared to Freelancer lore but it was jolly good fun. Only recently has it become integrated more to satisfy the rest of the community.

People get passionate about what it is they read, write, play or see on TV and want to bring that into the game. Provided that doesn't directly transgress on the universal stability of our RP sphere I say live and let live. The rules the OP has listed protects those values.
I side with Sombra and Arant. The Discovery lore is a outright, complete CLUSTER****, whether the devs like it or not, and the administration or a minority screaming vapidly about "MUH IMMERSION, MUH RP, MUH VANILLA LORE", should go take a hike off the highest point on Planet Moros, because artificially limiting people from playing characters they like outside of any reason other than ensuring the longevity and stability of the community, is something that KILLS communities. There is a fine line with restraining people. If you're too lenient, quality drops. If you're too strict, quality (POSSIBLY) improves at the cost of populace - drastically. And I'm pretty sure we don't want a server daily peak of 40 rather than 80 (or 100 on a good day). I don't know about you, but cutting the userbase in half because hurrdurr muh immersion screams of selfishness and elitism - Something I abhor in all its' forms, unless rightfully necessary in instances where a RP genuinely, in all areas, SUCKS, and hinders others from enjoying themselves, IN THE MAJORITY.
Personally, The admins and devs must take a backseat to where characters come from. If they come from sol, as long as it makes a lick of goddamn sense (in general, because at this point Starlancer lore should be thrown out the window), freaking let them. Alien race other than the Nomads or AI? Let them build it up and see if it sticks. Restricting people hurts the game's future, hurts the community, and overall is a bad idea. I already feel the Furry rule is BS to an extent (and I'm not even a furry) - But that's a heated discussion not suitable for this place.
TL;DR - To quote the great, late Colin "Kitty0706" Wyckoff "It's your **** man, do what ever the **** you want." - As long as you don't get the community at large cringing or noping the hell out.
Side note, I'm pretty sure my main character is the one Laz is talking about.
One of the main reasons I think this community has lived fpr so long is the creativity. Dozens, if not hundreds of people have brought new aditions to Freelancer's Lore, made it richer etc etc. If not by these people, Disco wouldn't have been much of a thing other than a small expansion for Vanilla.

That's nailed it right there
^ This.
Two of my characters would originally be considered borderline imports, but I've since grown them into their own characters with their own goals and personalities. That's one of the things that makes Disco and RP like this great - it can overtime take what can be considered unoriginal and expand and grow it into its' own creation.

How so? I've never read your character information.

I am not saying we should prevent innovation. Innovation keeps games alive an increases longevity of an entire game, that is what Disco is. I am saying things that are completely ooRP or things that were never ever meant to fit into this universe. That is why I brought up the three points I did as examples. I've seen numerous posts that, in my eyes, would break established lore or are too "out there".

Because my character originated from Sol and woke up in 822 AS from Cryosleep because Kusari wanted to experiment on people frozen for a extensive period of time. I tried to make it as legit as possible. That is, ofc - the TL;DR.
