He tried to input his old ID manually into the Multiplayer ID box while running FL multiplayer for the first time, and he got it wrong and it indeed is not a valid ID.
It takes a proper combination of letters and numbers for the ID, you can't input just any one.
Recheck what you wrote into the box, perhaps it was wrongly written.

we use to beable to request them back if u know the name and when i last logged in, but if they are lost they are lost, but i cant make a new Account...
if i un-install and re-install and go into multiplayer i just get a empty slot where the ID numbers should be

Yeah, they dont do recovery anymore, sorry. As for the blank slot, umm, check the registry entries, see which ones are blank. You can do that by doing something like this:
First of all, launch "regedit" from command line.
Find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\1.0
There will be InstallKey string where Freelancer key is stored.
I think there are some other keys there as well that are all related. If one of these is blank it might not generate a new key...
That's all i can think of, though i can't see why one of those fields would be blank...
Nope, ya cant, not yet at least. If the install key string is blank it will not generate a key. I can think of two more things. Uninstall and then delete the registry folder for freelancer. The other thing, if you hit the create button with a blank key will it make a new key?
