Wow, thanks for the support. Lately I have been working on making it more "Freelancerey." I'm kinda using the Dagger as a basis for the "rough, but smooth/keep it simple" design. I have since slimmed down the cockpit so it looks less pregnant from the front. I'm excess polygon hunting with it now and should have a decent Mk2 concept later on. I was wondering if I could get some hints or pointers from some of our better modelers.
Okay, my recent changes as promised. I made the wing sweep less aggressive both vertically and horizontally, re-glassed the cockpit to include thickness to the glass supports, added more vents/scoops, the slimmed down cockpit really sealed the deal IMO though.
Hopefully most of you noticed the recessed nose section (Image 1&2) it was a thought that I had to either have a concealed CD mount on the inside top or 2 gun mounts on the inside walls. Just curious on the thoughts of all of you on that one.
The ship is pretty much sitting where I like it now, so I guess the next stop (recommended changes aside) is the various tutorials on texture, hardpointing and learn how to set up for SP testing...
Ooh, looks good. Its' forwards' facing wings and jettish appearance to me is very reminicant of the Ravens' Claw. Perhaps if you could make it scarey enough... it could become the replacement for the Phantoms.
But other than my opinions, what faction did you have in mind for this ship?
I was merely going for any one of the "Homeworld" replacements. What information I got about "Renzo", is they seem to gear toward performance oriented, civilian class ships. Kind of like the Muscle Cars of today so to speak. I saw this as a "big" light fighter, kind of like the Scimitar in handling, with a smaller power core and slightly less armor as it's civilian and all.
For this one, is it too polygon laden? Or is it still way too conservative?
At this time, I wouldn't feel qualified enough to even touch the Raven's Claw, I can it a try after I iron out this model though.
