Pin could indeed be useful. I could offer a certain amount of webspace for some people, to tunnel the image requests.

The scripts are only a few kB and the server load very low.

You could also do it like this as an animated gif, this one has a 2 sec delay but you could make the delay as long as you like, it takes 2 mins to do in photoshop.
