Personally, after some time hanging around as an LPI recruit I got mixed feelings.
Yes, it happens that people are treating you as a dummy decoy cause you fly Patriot. Not much of a fair fight but hey, evil doesn't care, ain't it?;)
On the other hand, I've seen LSF and LNS cooperating very good with LPI. Yes, we can. I don't really mind to be under the LSF od LNS orders during an operation - as long as it protects civilians I don't care.
About the donuts jokes - well, just have some distance. When I see messages insulting LPIs as donut-dumb-eaters etc. my blood's raging (in my real entity) but in-game, I laugh together with them. Hell, I even make some jokes myself. Kind of self-criticism, doesn't really make me feel worse. It's even funny. The most important thing, I think, is to be serious with your dutty. If someone laughs on the donuts, laugh with them. You'll get surprised how fast subject dies itself when they see you don't get angry with that, further - you can laugh on that yourself.
So, gentlemen, have some distance and it's quite funny.
Someone's still thinking LPI is what it was long time ago?
Well, ignore them if it's to hard for them to see the changes.
Some people just stick to their own world.
Just don't forget one thing - it's still just a game. Don't take it too seriously. I know lot of people enjoys the game and gives their best to RP the LPI.
I saw lots of officer's hard work every day so if someone thinks it's an easy piece of cake, they have no idea what they talk about. Personally I find LPI to be one of the hardest characters I ever played. Lot's of procedures, lots of people breaking the law, hard times trying to stop players docking not to get caught, all those bounty lists, artifact / alien organisms ant other cargo rules, huge are to patrol. Yet not enough, most of the people behaves like the LPI is the main reason of all diseases. What about LH, Xeno, indie pirates etc.?
Why do i say all of this?
You, the LPI guys, do a great job. As I stated above, being the officer is one of the most demanding role-play I experienced on this server and I personally say there's no tougher character to choose, considering the amount of things you need to take care of, the amount of players hanging in Liberty space and their usually negative opinion about any forces trying to enforce the law.
So don't worry about those whining they can't do everything they want. Just continue your good job.

Well, SOMEONE fired me from the LPI for not being corrupt enough when I was trying to support them.
Not my fault if you guys are outnumbered, especially when half of you are part-time rogues and cardi smugglers. Give the LPI GBs and I think things will work out better for you.
Kudos for the RP of some of the LPI guys.
And NY is the best system, not the worst. At least it is as long as there is at least one LPI around.
Personally I think you should have made an agreement with the Oracles that they stay on in NY, like less system spamming and less open nomad advertizing inexchange for the right to stay. Seemed they put a lot of work into their stuff. And people love killing them so get them back somehow.

I don't think this will work out. If you give GB to LPI, the unlawfuls will start flying at least cruisers so there's no point.
In my opinion, you Hack should consider one more thing during recrutation - time when player usually is online.
This, IMHO, will prevent Liberty space not being patroled in the early morning hours ( CET +1 ). There's no problem afternoon, but in the morning I was usually the only LPI officer online and piloting Patriot was actually useless against most of the ships solo.
So, to prevent it, recruit more people who can be online in the morning so they can group for patroling. Two or three Libbys grouped on a patrol can still be a deadly force if piloted by experienced players.

I second that. During my LPI RP I talked to one of the Oracles, Zenon I think it was. Indeed they must have put some work into their speaches. Considering my level of english I must say most of them are much better and I enjoy their speaches, although as a LPI character I don't buy that stuff. But yet, they put some freshness to the Liberty.

Quote:The faction is known for Donuts, being Lazy and generally being more of a comedy than a serious group.
Wait wait.. they're NOT?
Oh, not anymore. I see. Or at least, trying not to be.
Darn. There goes my LPI character idea.
Wait, we could start a new faction.. the Liberty Police Improv Ensemble! Or, L-PIE, for short.
Brought to you by Sivran The Newb
I've suffered RSI in my right hand and am now even more useless in PVP. I now fly with a trackball!
\CS\Helkos - Teh cyborg Newb, formerly Sivran the Clueless Freelancer, gets pwned in PVP.
SmallTimeTrader - Teh Trader Newb, under new management!
Oracle|Randy - Randall Lamar, Teh Pacifist, Oracle-follower Newb (at least I don't have to worry about PVP on this char!
Texan_Twang - Texan Bounty Hunter, flies a Bomber, rarely played. Almost wish I could move him to another account and sell him.
I liked the old LPI, and I like the new LPI. I think you guys are decent chaps, and always fun to RP with. If anyone makes any comments about doughnuts in-game... well, realize that someone might do that to an actual cop. Yes, you guys have stereotypes, but I'd say try to work with it, rather than against it. Work it into your RP that you're stereotyped against.
Actually, I may well join you fellows in the near future...
Alright.. I'm sick of hearing the pathetic excuses that 'LPI got their own reputation' and 'LPI used to be donut munchers not so long ago.'
Would someone please care to read to us the date that the RP for the Rusty Donut story was written? Nearly a year ago. When was the Rusty Donut destroyed? 5 months ago. So I don't want to hear another excuse starting with 'Well the LPI did...'
What we did was ditch the whole donut routine over six months back. Since that time the LPI has acted in the way it does now. We're cops. We're corrupt, we like handing out bribes, we're a for-profit organization concerned with raking in cash as much as we are in keeping Liberty clean. We've worked very hard to live up to this faction's history, and I'm proud to say I've seen some excellent RP coming from the other LPI. Better RP than I find in most factions, including those that have been around for years.
If you reading this think that a person or faction's past actions should dictate his life forever more, than you shouldn't be out there criticizing, poking fun, or otherwise interacting with people you've known for longer than a month. I'm sure everyone here has done something in the past that they no longer do now. I'm sure everyone in here acted differently when they were five than they do now. Should that be held against you? No. Should the LPI's former RP be held against us as we try to RP the faction we've chosen to play as? Definitely not.
Few things on this game make me angry. I can be irritated, sure, and am quite often. But its rare for anything on Disco to actually make me angry. But thats the only word to describe my feelings when I logged on to Skype after being gone for a few days and the first thing I read is a quote from an LSF member. A member of the official LSF faction who was insulting one of the LPI members in an OORP manner and bashing the faction in general. LSF used to have a bad rep on this server. Not in an RP sense, but an OORP one. Fortunately, the faction cleaned up considerably and is now a proper and respectable official faction. But does that give them the right to insult the LPI, who've never done anything worse than RPing stereo-typical cops a year ago?
I certainly don't think so, so it makes me rather angry when someone who has been on the server for about a month or two thinks they have the right to insult us. I think the people here need to start thinking about the way they act to others, and start learning to be a little more polite in their social interactions. God help you if some of the people I've seen here act this same way in real life, because you'll get the crap beat out of you some day for an ill-thought out remark that you might think is funny, but definitely isn't to the other side.
Zapp, and especially Hack, have put a lot of time and effort into LPI. Treat them with the respect they deserve, just as you would give to your own faction's leader. The LPI may just be an acronym to you, but to us its a group of friends who enjoy playing a game on a server for some fun and don't want to have to fend off insults while we do it.
