If by amazing you mean giving certain ships unfair advantages over others and turning Disco PvP upside down, then yes.

This is true, there would need to be a re-balance. Still, I think overall it would improve the game, once balanced.

I just found something rather interesting, if you go into first person view, than from there switch to turret, you can still roll. This adds a little to much of an advantage to Cap ships. Say a Rhein Cruiser vs a few bombers, floating wall right? Well, lets say said cruiser can suddenly roll like crazy, switching its huge wall for its much smaller top/bottom, whilst still firing upon you.
Bug? Or just a whole new dynamic to capital ships (A rather helpful one assuming you're on the cap ship side.)

Autoleveling can be disabled...
The advance control addition missed one of the hidden auto-leveling controls. The Camera Auto-Level which is accessible by going in to

Interface\KeyMap.ini
Find
;[KeyCmd]
;nickname = USER_TOGGLE_LEVEL_CAMERA
;ids_name = 504819
;ids_info = 504820
;state = keydown

And

;key = USER_TOGGLE_LEVEL_CAMERA
Take out the ;

Then do the same for keylist.ini
;[key]
;id = USER_TOGGLE_LEVEL_CAMERA
Take out the ;

The control for CAMERA AUTO LEVEL will be added afterwards.
Either manually update that bit yourself or await the auto-update to possibly include that change.

However, this does not fix the issue where you can only roll in keyboard control. Why it doesnt work in Mouse flight i have no idea.

Um.... seeing as its something that was left out when implementing the roll controls.

Not only that but its a bit impossible to tell if someones using the fix.
For all we know someone could have been using Roll control in 4.84.

Auto-levelling was left out, and it was done intentionally. It sometimes causes a nice bug when your controls get stuck and you can't turn your ship at all. We couldn't inlcude a feature with such behaviour. Btw, there are actually two auto-level switches, but I'm not sure which one does what. Hribek could elaborate more.

Also, you don't have to fly in a straight line while rolling. If you map turning to keys, they work in rolls.

simple.
Originally, one auto level activate the rolling ability, so you could do it, outside 1st person. The second auto level is to deactivate the roll.

for autolevelling, you can just go into the settings menu, and assign a key for it

Mine is set to L

No need to change the ini or whatever

Well, I did run in to that glitch one time. But only once, and im not exactly sure what caused it outside of mouse flight
As for the two Auto Level switches iv already commented on them.

Theres the Ship Auto Level which keeps the ship level'ed with the plane.
Theres the Camera Auto Level which keeps the camera level'ed with the plane.
----This however, only applies to the chase camera. Which is why sometimes when you turn your ship upside down to the plane and go out of mouse mode, the camera will instantly turn to level, as your ship is still rotating to level out)

Since it only applies to the Chase Camera, thatd be the reason you can roll in Cockpit View without turning it off.

That as i said in the post about the ini edits is the Ship Auto Level, which still prevents you from being able to roll in Chase View (3rd person view, when the camera is behind your ship).
Those INI edits allow you access to enable/disable the Camera Auto Level.
