This is silly.. When the old factions applied they met all the required standards of the time and were approved. There is no reason they should have to meet a new faction approval standard every time it gets changed.
Now should factions come up for review periodically? Maybe. The community disagreed as a whole though.
The Black Dragon Society was approved long before the 500 mil fee, became inactive, and the was approved after the fee when we had to pay it. I'm saying this because it proves the point I'm trying to make that whatever the requirements are when you apply, those are the ones you need to meet. The end. Shouldn't have to redo everything every time the application process changes.
' Wrote:EDIT: Before the rules about pvp encounters all came into being, people still played the game.
Does that mean those people can disobey the newer pvp rules? Simply because they were around before them?
That's a rule, not an application process. Two different subjects altogether.
its not like 500 million is such a fortune that old factions would suddenly struggle and fall cause they cannot afford it anymore. - i think many players can pay 500 million several times - and they are just players, not whole factions.
what i d like ( which is currently been done ... somewhat at least ) is to regularly review every faction. - factions, every faction falls into some sort of "routine" after some time and the excitement wears off - and often, so does the quality and novelty.
having regular ( yearly for example ) reviews ( serious ones ) - could make factions to keep up the good work and to stay on the communities good side. - when they re not beneficial for the community anymore they would become unofficial - simple as that ( and that way give other ideas their chances to take their place )
but that might be too much work to do - with all the factions we got.
Oh come on, now you're just begging for attention. Seriously. What? I fought tooth and nail to keep the 101st alive, now if you want to make me pay another half-billion credits out of my pocket to keep it official we're going to have a problem. Grow up.

This statement pretty much matches my mindset on the matter.
I'm not asking for a re-application, merely for the fee to be paid.
All the Official factions from before the fee that still exist today probably have moved up to the now higher standards.
All except for the Fee.
By current standards they are not Official, by current rules they are not Official.
Why should a faction now have to pay the fee and meet all the standards, when others do not?
If the factions don't, then they might as well not meet the other standards. Or hey, I won't sure. There's a nice trader vessel, lets go blast it with Dreadnaughts.
I mean, I've been around before a good few of these rules came into being, doesn't that mean I can just not obey them?
I think Eppy and Virus and other pre-500million faction leaders would also complain bitterly at me for ensuring their diplomacies, shiplists, weaponlists and behaviour are up to the same standard that I would expect of any official faction. It's not like they get to abide by the old standard they must keep it up to date with current thought and feeling. I won't have it any other way. Any faction that fails to meet this standard can and does fall (very swiftly) by the wayside.
Oh and The Admin team decides what is official and unofficial, not you.
Saint Del is considered a holy healer of diseases of children, but also as a protector of cattle.

Because the standards didn't change. Just the application process. So yes, they are official. You don't loose your official status just because the application process changes.
Casero, I could pay that a few times over without a worry.
I have no ambitions to have any kind of Official faction or lead one in general anymore.
I'm merely pointing out that if older factions can just simply disobey the rules in this regard, why shouldn't the newer ones?
Why shouldn't we all?
Unless 500 million is too much for these factions?
EDIT: I understand this isn't the most popular thing to point out, as proven by the general responce by those, oddly the older members who were involved in those factions, who have posted.
You can insult me if you want but I hope it won't come to that. I just want to get rid of this blatent double standard and gap in the rules.
