Engagement Notice

Technically, everyone who joins/starts a fight without it being self-defence has to give an engagement notice. I know I always do on my LPI, even when I've been ordered in System chat to attack. Something like "Yes sir, taking down threat to Liberty...Now!" is certainly suffcient in a case like that.

But I wouldn't have a big problem with someone who didn't, as long as the order was clear, and who the order was going to is clear, and that character is in scanner range of me. Of course the Admins might feel differently... When in doubt, give the notice!

what i am asking is how clear is the rule governing this?

is someone breaking the rules if they do not state for themselves that they are engaging?

Contact the Order, and do a formal inRP complaint if you have any substance.

The forum members shouldn't have to be subjected to people asking their opinion on what the rules allow.
Only the admins can make a judgement call like that. NOT forum members.
Either contact the Order, or file a sanction report. Don't post on the forums like this.

yeah, i am not looking to seriously press the matter.

i'm not trying to report him or anything, like i said. he did apologize.

obviously, as i have already stated, i was not/am not trying to sanction him for anything. thanks for making pointless accusations though.

i was expecting some form of RP from them, and i didnt get anything at all.

and before the battleship opened fire, i had been sitting there for a while, not doing anything. i had asked other order members to get involved in a 1person Vs. another person battle. i have screens as that as well.
one person made an order, the other 2 people began shooting without notice from themselves.

Take it in RP, and ingame, not this trial by forum.

but i did talk to the guy, and he apologized. he did seem very apathetic to the situation, but at least he did say he was sorry.

1.) You posted, and asked for opinions. Just because mine doesnt agree with you and what you've posted and what your intention of the thread was, doesn't mean I can't post here. On these forums EVERYTHING is wrong with asking for peoples honest opinions, then burning them for it. (which is what you have just done to me.)

Try and salvage this one alternatively.

People have role-played a Captain having a fighter craft and leaving his XO in charge of the ship.

Battleships can be part of a battle-group, and usually are.

Hence, I see only one response to this.

Is a person allowed to make an engagement notice for someone else? can a capital ship engage without a notice, merely because someone else told him to?

To answer your original question: My understanding of the rules is that each ship does not have to indicate its intention to attack if it is clearly part of the same group and battle. This is quite common for any engagement involving more than 2 ships on each side.
