Battleships arent exactly designed for cargo interdiction, if that's what you wanted your character to focus on you really should have bought a gunboat.
Battleships are designed for heavy artillery warfare, they're weapons platforms - not highly mobile assault craft.

I believe the rules superseded the ID clause in this case. The ID doesn't specify that Cruisers and Battleships can be used to demand nomad technology from transports. I may be wrong, but the way I've always seen it, if you're in a Cruiser/Battleship the only reason you can shoot a transport is in self defense.
Del told me that you can attack transports if your id allows it, for example a trader hauling nomads can be blown up by a Core battleship if it refuses to drop them. That's how I've operated and my Destroyer and Battleship haven't been sanctioned for demanding nomad cargo.
