Excuse me? Please, ohpleaseohpleaseohplease don't take away my right to a battleship! That's one of the reasons I'm here and not playing some vanilla server. I like capital ships. They rock and are awesome. I'm a loner. If, say, the GoR or the Phantoms want me to join up(Which I highly doubt they will) then of course I will, but I imagine they have BS/rank limitations, so no go, anyway. Battleships are one of the reasons people like being here. They can satisfy their inferiority complex by flying a ridiculously big ship of their choice. That's one of the reasons th mod has done as well as hit has.
Save Our Big SHip! Save Our Big Ship! Save Our Big Ship! Save Our Big Ship!

My idea was to bring some more variety in player factions, with more ranks and use of low level weaponry, and different forms of engagement that can add to the game experience. But seems people are on the "lets go to the maximum" talk again. Maximum ships, maximum weaponry, and now maximum price. I dont agree with Yngen. Make battleships expensive or let them be used only by authorized factions is not the solution. The solution is a change of mentality. Of course a dagger cant do too much against a sabre, but if the sabre attacks first he is going against the level 30 rule. But you see, weapons like the chain gun bluebell are being throwed into oblivion due to the fact that everything is going obsolete. Some rookies still happens to appear in the server, but once they got the trade working, a lot of equipment is left behind, because everybody is going to use only class 8, 9 and 10 weapons, or then big ships.
A month ago, I had the idea of creating the Ulfhednar, a group of fighters within the AW. The idea was to use only sabres, but soon I discarded it, as everybody was going to use gunboats or higher, so there was no need for such group. I think its the same in relation to lesser fighters.
F_wolf, I hear what you're saying. We're seeing the death of the non-VHF. Damn shame really, when everyone can stomp from New York to Gamma without the slightest worry from any NPC. Unfortunately its a case of, no one like to be pwned, so we end up with an arms race and everyone flying the biggest bada$$ fighter around.
The same mentality holds true for caphsips.
And I'm guilty too.... I've gotten $5m into a new char, and flown the noobflyer straight to Theta to buy an Eagle. ~slaps owns wrists~
It's like when I requested reduction of rad damage in the Galileo/Kepler clouds... one response was basically, "fly a bigger ship".
So here's to the unsung HF.... Save the Wolfhound! All hail the 'cudda!
Why does everyone put down the idea of fighter groups, the GoR have had one for months, infact for a long
time thats all we used ... Sabres. Infact we still do. Even though its got probably one of the worst manouverability
records here now. Thats RP ... Its the only fighter the Outcasts have to use. I'm afraid we have also got one
or two cruisers now, as you guessed it ... Fewer people come up to Alpha, flying fighters. With one or two
notable exceptions I hasten to add. Add one BS as a flagship, rarely used. No gunboat on offer ...
We don't have an imported LF or HF to use, just a couple more vanilla ships in the arsenal. What do we do,
use something technically not available to us in the lighter groups ?
The VHF is still the king, and I hope it stays that way. Though for most others there are plenty of options in
the 'lower' classes, if well flown can more than hold their own against anything. Maybe the fact that there are
some effin' mean NPCs around now, makes people go for the armour option. Plenty of upgrades to those guys
recently. Lots of bott and batt usage required now if you want to go mix it with especially The Wild (level 15
my ass). Go have a play with six of them and tell me its a breeze.
Even the standard Bounty Hunters are getting meaner by the second. Destroyers in just a fighter, ok if you
have all day. If they get any tougher, we will have a call to back em off a touch from some elements.
I think I must be playing a different mod then ...
Capship arguments we have done to death now, and things are changing I hope.
Rad damage in Kepler and Gallileo ... Pah, stick your nose into 82 if you dare. 500k and you got off lightly, if
your loadout includes one of those torp mounted nasties. And I live there ...
Ship 'choice' is just that, depends on how you view your RP, and how the play dictates ...
Lets not bemoan the death of something that's alive and kicking still.
There must be a change in starting rep then if you can swan off to Theta with a starflier, without a bribe ...
Don't make it sound easy, if you get it wrong, its instant death ... What, no Nomads ? Or did you take the
trade lane orientated option ?

about the only faction thing, Im part of Bs|, but my GB, its not Bs|. its a liberty GB, so I cant join Bs| with it. if I get a rheinland GB ill be able to get a Name change but come on, if it was like so with battleships id be happy, since I hate battleships(big, slow, and ugly). Anyway I like my GB, its the thing with the most firepower I have. that and my spatial.

Strewth! Actually I think I did stick my head into Om82 for a brief sec.... turned around so quick I met myself at the jumphole:P

Something like that. Meh, killed a couple of Mollys on the way, was enough to bump my rep with 'sairs just into the white. Plain sailing from there. (except rad damage in '49.... now that's scary in a noobflier!)
Nah, that would be O-41 with the melty consistency, wonderful to watch the hull dissolve ... Need to dock at
least once if you intend to take a small vacation there.
Then again if you go the other way, you can pick up an armour upgrade and a nuke mine on the way. Makes
for a nastier noobflier allround. Nomads ... Eat my lavablades.

For example; Bundschuh use Stilettos, the Outcast's HF. So I use Sabre for my Wraith (Bundschuh) fighter, as its just a step up the same ladder from Stiletto. Golden Chrysanthemums use Falcons and Hawks. So I use the Eagle for my Kiretsu. Again, just one step up the ladder of the same line. Lux Liner for my Orbital Spa and Cruise (I trade more in that than in my LT..).
I use the Talarca for my Blood Dragon (my GC is for fighter, BD for cap) since its sold at Kyoto (at least it was before, not sure anymore) and it was before the introduction of the BD GB.
Dromedary (not exactly finished though..) for my Zoner.
People should be doing this, not going out for the best VHF they can.
For example; RM uses only Wraths and Phantoms for fighters. Not exactly the best of the best.. SF uses Templars.. Talons, Ravenclaws, Raven's Talons, Vipers, you name it they got it..
We need more factions/people like RM. (You'll notice AW is redoing our shiplist..)
