I would like to see better effects and stuff, can you make that turn on or off like bloom effect? That would solve many problems, make it client side thing. I see big boom and debris, guy with effects off don't see it.

And i dont think we need ambient explosions and dummy gun thing seems complicated.

Dust, Debris, better ship graphic stuff, me love.

So make it optional to use, i know problems with old pc i still have my first pc i ever had in other room, i am glad i have new one but others don't so, optional graphic pack when installing mod could do the trick

You know, as pretty as it would be. Better dont do it. many people here are using old PCs. For some people its even the last chance to play a game like Freelancer in a greater community.

Its be explained over the course of the existence of Discovery that we will never use other mod's stuff.

And though its awesome and such, Discovery will continue on its own path for story, graphics and components.

It would be great if you could tack on those mods as an addition. It would give the people without computers back from the stone age a fresh look at FL. I've seen the Itano Circus videos and what that guy does is amazing.

Optional addon perhaps.
May not be possible however.
The one with the NPCs firing dummy missiles won't be anyway. Everyone would always see the explosions and the general lag from missiles is bad.

One thing most forget about Discovery is the size of the mod in comparrison to Flakk88 and Itano. Not only would it take a huge amount of work to impliment through out the whole mod, the amount of NPC activity and players aswell play a huge part in load on a mod this size. I had a few concepts myself to improve graphics and such. High res planet texture, engine trails, contrails, large explosions, huge weapon effects. The list goes on. But all of them cause lag. And all of the increase the mod size by a seriouse amount.

You, sir, have a fail video card. I'm on an integrated intel piece and I get full FPS almost everywhere. Only time I lag to hell is when looking directly at mortar explosions that cover more than a third of my screen. Yay!

But yeah, do want. Maybe tonight I'll read up on FL modding again and see if I can whip together some more advanced effects.

What if these effect could be seen only on highest graphic? You would have same 8-10fps.
