If you meet two or three VHFs, they can easily kill you. Especially if they have Minirazors. Fighters arent as week as you think. The Salvager can easily kill a Pirate Transport, and I don't get what you mean with safe from Capital Ships. It is also a Transport.
And who says that you cant pirate in a Salvager anyway? Team up with a Person having a TCD, you dont need to fire two at a time to disrupt the Victim.

Also, bombers can't mount missiles any more. So if a bomber is pirating you, and you hear incoming missile... and you're not cruising...
Heres the question you have to ask now... Why couldnt they make Inferno and Razor Class 1 Guns instead, and just do the reverse of what has been done? Giving Fighter Torpslots access to Class 1 Guns as Razors, and Infernos, while leaving the Nova and SN as Torp-coded guns leaving Nova with its "Incoming Torpedo"
You could even leave Fighter-Torps (Sunslayers / Starkillers) as regular Torpedoes as Torpedoes are still Torpedoes, why shouldnt a bomber use them if they for some reason chose to do so?
