There's a difference between a script issuing a single command and performing a series of actions. The latter would of course cross the line.

X3 can be scripted to do all sort of funky and freaky things. I know you're talking about voice control, but with the power of the scripts there are almost endless possibilities.

Well, i have not yet bothered to use it in Freelancer, as i'm only mining right now, and switching weapons group/drop nukes/launch missiles is not a concern right now. Anyway, it would only link voice commands to keystrokes (FL standard commands), so you could say "cruise" and it would execute SHIFT+W. If you say for example, "weapons group 2", it would execute SHIFT+2. The only difference would be using a word instead of pressing a hotkey. Shouldn't have any legal problem, as there is an implicit delay in execution, between you talk, command is recognized, and keystroke executed. It may very well take 1-2 seconds, as shown in the video of Falcon 4.0 AF i posted, but as i said, i have yet to try it in Freelancer.
To help up with comms, you have the server-side preset things, so you should not really require voice input for that. Although, if an admin reads this, input on if creating a voice command to execute "/1" (or whichever the command to bring up a preset text was) would be considered scripting would be appreciated.

I know, but the only thing i found was not vanilla (insane obsession about ***modified*** tag, i have even restarted whole games because of that), and i found it a bit lacking and not "scallable". With this i'll be able to set-up more things depending on what's my available fleet in a certain moment, and which capital ship im flying, with which equipment. Easy to remember commands like "Group Five" to select in this case combat group five, and "Defend position" which would bring up the location selector display, or "Escorts..." "Attack all targets, land..." can theoretically improve a lot fleet combats in that game.
you might need to do a first training session from control panel-> voice to create a profile, although you should have done that right after installing SAPI 5
Quote:things that would also come up Map/navigation, chat, etc...
Is my assumption correct?
Yes, it's correct. It'd mainly execute any command you can assign a hotkey to in freelancer game options. Menus, weapons groups, open chat windows, ...

I thought I installed SAPI 5... But there isn't anything new in Control Panel.
To install SR, the only files that seem to do the job are Setup.exe and SR.msi - the other executables just tell me "Wrong OS or OS version for application".
Anyway, I reinstalled SAPI... Nothing new in CP. I'll go and check Add & Remove Programs in a sec.
You should see "Microsoft English Recognizer 5.1". Below that, "Default voice profile" (give it some room for different spelling, as i am doing a direct translation from spanish to english). If it's not there, you didn't do a proper installation.
Also, are you using Windows XP? It should also work with Windows 7, but i do not have any experience with it.
