i made a mistake by buying a huntress. never again.
the corsair gb if handled properly is more dangerous than the huntress (well it is for me)
and i would never recommend the huntress. if FL lost all the asteroid feilds, then maybe. MAYBE i would suggest it.
Thanks Frozen & Epyon. For now I think I'll stick with my Ravenclaw and Container Transport (flown by Captain_Commerce).
When I earn enough money in my CT, I'll start a new character and put him in a gunboat. Might start with a Bretonia gb or Corsair and see what happens.
Btw, that Container Transport is a marvelous bit of modding. Great detail, realistically scaled and even aesthetically pleasing. My hat's off to the designer!!
Why don't you try the BH-BS (14 turrets) or the LI DN (12 turrets)
They are smaller, more manuverable and they look better then other battleships,
but they've still got much stronger hulls and completly class 10 weapons and class 10 shields.
I've had an BH BS in 4.82, maybe it wasn't able to take out a RH BS, but I've liked it very much.
my fav bs for the moment has been the osiris. sweet maneuvarability, with a good setup its quite lethal (which lancer helped me setup)
and one more thing about the huntress, it has only 2 360 degree firing guns on the top. the rest are forward firing guns. big disadvantage if u get a bomber on your tail.

I assume you're referring to a Bounty Hunter Battlesihp or Liberty Dreadnought. How much do they cost? I don't have 300million credits to buy someting like the Osiris. I just want a big tough attach-freighter ship in wihch to "discover" hostile territory. Or maybe start an Outcast character and not feel underpowered if I happen upon a RM, Corsair, or BM aligned player. :-)
The Liberty Navy Dred has 14 turrets, and 420000 armor. The Osiris has 12 turrets, slightly less manuverability, and 340000 armor. It's seriously unbalanced.
But I'd definitely go with the Liberty Assault Frigate. Much better, if you can get the RP down.
I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.
RP Story (Still deciding whether or not to finish)
the huntress looks pretty and is tough but it has limited rear firepower and is a bitch to pilto through rocks and debri, sold it and bought a corsair gb myself which is just as tough and you can mount some prety awesome firepower on it too.
Huntress isn't very good unless you know how to equip it and fly it very well. It can inflict ALOT of damage, but as others said, only a few guns shoot backwards (4 if I remember correctly). Two fighters can take it down easily just by staying behind it. I'd say its the second best cruiser to use against BSs and BCs. Not a great explorer ship, especially because its a Corsair cruiser and would get you shot in most places of Sirius.
I'd say if you just want a heavy exploring ship, go with Kusari GB, Rheinland GB, or the Kusari Destroyer (cruiser class) if you need heavier damage than a GB. Ku Dest is smaller and weaker than most cruisers, but its a heck lot more agile than them all (I can outturn a Lib Cruiser with it, and that thing turns like mad) which makes it more suited for exploratory missions.
