yea - its civilian - not zoner.... funny how attentive its read what i put in writing. - just proves that people read what they wish to read sometimes.
either way - as i have stated - having it to be a byproduct of the AP series may not work, cause the AP works so closely with the BHG not to be able to produce for a possibly hostile market.
zoners became more and more restrictive with its gear - i wouldn t wanne model any "generic" stuff after zoner products anymore at all. - i d rather take junkers as a template for something generic nowadays.
edit:
you see "corsair" in the design? - oh, my - i see as much corsair in it as i see nomad in it. [ which is about zero ]
So have the ship built by DSE or something and sold on the open market for anyone that wants it. Much like many other "civilian" ships, they don't have to be in any way related to the Zoners.
I'd prefer something very generic jinx, not even the Junkers as they have enemies.
Something like the RT is, made by a corporation but available to absolutely everyone on the black market.
Looks like a ship which has had some real thought put into its design in relation to its background and purpose, I like it.
I wouldn't say I noticed a BHG/Corsair look; if anything the two ships that are loudly booming in my mind as I look at the pictures are the Liberty Gunboat and the Raven's Talon. On further inspection of these subconcious impulses, I agree with them - it's like a mesh of design aesthetics and ideals from the two ships, and I like it even more.
There are numerous shipyards in House Space that are dedicated to solely the private/public market, I.E. Transports, fighters etc.
There's little reason why the ol AP can't do this. After all they built a pile of ships for the Guild, which are privately owned vessels. Certainly not Zoner, certainly not Navy.
I would say that this could be a good example of the civilian ship market in Sirius, outside of the Zoner influence.
Consider that if AP came out with this, they would be the first to fill a niche in the market that has been barren for a long time.
Nothing wrong with a bit of competition after all eh?;)
You know, I'd be tempted to make this a "Civilian Corvette," a gunboat with one or two cruiser turrets. It doesn't look like a gunboat, but there's something distinctly corvette about it... it's more "capital" than it is "gunboat." More corvette.
This could easily be the heaviest "Civilian" ... or, more technically, "Open Market" vessel, rather than being just a gunboat.
I dunno, just looks like it deserves some heavier firepower.
What about two forward guns on those wings? Four turrets beside that. It would make for a rather unique ship.
I kinda like it, make it more useless than a Tridente, heavy, poor powerplant, bad turning. So it balances out as not as good as any of the other gunboats in the mod...
As for the looks, it works, maybe too dark. Then again, make it Junker produced, Zoner distributed.

Myes, I quite agree, it looks like something big and nasty that swoops in for a hell of a punch.
thats speculating about balance, which is too early to do. - even if your ideas are tempting.
in any case - i d love it to be non affiliated with zoners in any way - but instead with a pure core system cooperation. - firstly, that excludes zoners for the first time from a generic ship. secondly - the core market is actually supposed to be much larger than the edgeworld market.
when it comes to cruiser turrets - there is always the problem with hybrid systems. - cruiser weapons require a different energy to damage ratio than gunboat turrets - balancing it out always means to either compromise - or receive a rather unbalanced ship, - along with it being generic - that might easily become "unbalanced to the disadvantage". furthermore, such turrets might just be oversized for a ship of that size. - after all, cruisers are a lot larger than gunboats.
the ship is large - mainly, cause i d figure that a civilian would use this ship more like a "home" than a military crew. ( yes, when i made it, i had the movie "spaceballs" in mind )
I was thinking that one might add cruiser turrets to this just like a gunboat turret was added to the Luxury Yacht - just enough to fire a primary or two. I'm not really sure how that could work out, but it seems remotely plausible.
