I personally love missles/torps, but unfortunately Caylith and Zepphos have took all me explosive toys away. So I'll be guns only for a while *cries* maybe some day I can be as famous for missle/torp whoring as I was for faction whoring.
Virus, all who were there at the Disco tournament KNOW you love missiles.. (We had to fight 3 times because you kept blowing yourself up as well as me >.<.) This is why I take care to mount CDs on any Eagle I ever buy.. And full CDs ALWAYS..
Personally I rarely use missiles, only very occasionally. I think the only ones I've used them on is my main AW fighter, my Wraith terrorist (to combat those agile Wraths) and I think I used one on my bomber for a short time. Ultimately, they are good for quick kills, but not always useful. CMs can usually disrupt them, CDs can sometimes make their effect backfire, and some ships just can't be damaged by missiles. I'd say use them if you want, but still work on using guns.
Also, hitting fighters with a Nova will be almost impossible in 4.84 if it doesn't change. Much slower and can't be used on fighters, so don't even worry about learning to use them against fighters.
Missiles are, in my opinion, a cheap way to win a fight you're losing. Guns are the way you should win.
Novas in the current mod on RP are basically slow guns and are difficult to use against fighters. On the new mod, I believe they will become obsolete... But don't worry, plenty more tricks up ma pants for y'all in 4.84, that I can guarrantee.
Yeah, I find that missiles are a crutch for folk that have trouble aiming. They're easily dodged, if you practice dodging.
Stick to guns, unless you're flying a Raven's Claw. It has loads of slots for things... It can have 6 guns, standard setup, with 2 missile launchers too. Nice stuff.
I'm just tired of seeing everyone loaded out with tizzys, coladas, and nomad guns. Variety is, as they say, the spice of life. So, crutch or not, I'm interested in finding an effective missile setup.
Could someone explain how CDs mess up missiles?

I tried using missiles as a way to quickly end a fight after the shields were down, but mostly I ended up having to continue the battle with 1 or 2 less guns. Missiles are not a good choice against another fighter. However, I have a bomber loaded out with 2 Novas and 4 Cannonballs. You may laugh, but this is done with a single purpose in mind - to take out cap ships. This has been a successful configuration against large ships. Against another fighter class....well, I have to run away:P

i haven't tried missles in a long time. i LOVE the idea of them but can't justify buying the amount i would be using, especially the high end ones. what is it 10k for one missle? if i'm spending that kinda cash that dadjim thing better hit right in the cockpit.
i read that missle speed is being increased in the new mod so maybe they'll be more feasible?
Ask those who fought me how "inferior" missiles are. Specially to those I can beat in under 30 seconds with some well placed shots.
Missiles are really useful. The problem is that most people do not know how to use them correctly. Instead, they fire missiles all the time hoping that one might hit the target.
