Now, if the character (in this case, The Seraphim) has a good and legitimate RP reason to go rogue and attack other Corsairs, should they not be able to do so? Granted, if every lolwut and imbecile attempted to do this, I might see the problem, but lolwuts and imbeciles generally do not have the skill to properly RP such a thing and are dealt with accordingly.
Perhaps I do not fully or properly understand the ID system and, if this is the case, please enlighten me. Otherwise, I leave it to you to post your questions, comments, and criticisms.
A basic server rule is to act in accordance with your own ID and IFF. IE if you are a Corsair Guard ID'd, Corsair IFF'd ship and start to attack Corsairs, you're in violation of that rule. The rule exists to prevent people from pewing their own faction.
The only way to circumvent this is generally through a SRP request (obtain a special operative ID or terrorist ID, and a different IFF). If this "The Seraphim" is so hellbent on hunting Sairs in a cruiser, he should either join the RHA, BHG or OC. As it stands his Sair ID should have been revoked and Sair cruiser taken the moment he made good on his threats to attack Sairs, considering his docking rights on all Sair bases would be revoked - therefor rendering his cruiser unable to be maintained.
This rule exists to basically prevent "teamkilling". Which is exactly what this player is doing.

I think of it this way:
If you were to defect to the Liberty navy from Rheinland, and you brought your wraith with you, you would be able to fly it until you got shot up.
What happens when you get a wing blown off?
Well.. there arnt any parts for you to repair it with.. no standard parts or replacements for your rheinland tech.
Logistically, you would be screwed.
That's why I think you cant keep a ship from a RP perspective if you 'defect.'
Explain this then, how do all the houses have the resources to build the battleships and cruisers getting blown up all the time?

Because each House or Faction has spare parts for Their Own Ships. For example, Navy has parts for Guardians and Upholders, and their designs don't match with the ones from Wraith and Snubnose. So, if a Military pilot defects to the Navy, they won't be able to repair his ship with their own parts, cause it simply is not the same Tech. Just like what Lobster said in the post you quoted, what would a defected Military pilot do if wing of his Wrath gets shot off?
It's like trying to repair a bike with the spare pieces you have for your bicycle, or trying to use a pacing car spare parts to repair an old van.

you mean spare parts for the ships that are literally completely destroyed? I don't think so. Nobody can support as many warships as there are being blown to bits, in RP would it not take years to make new ones?
Oh, and anybody can support small craft, im talking about the big stuff.

It does not state, the pilot carrying this ID is whatever they chose to be. If the corsair ID doesn't work for you, you need a different ID or special roleplay approval. In your case I suggest an outcast ID and a outcast ship.
For that Cannon, you would need an SRP system.
This is what happens when you close that system. RP evolves regardless.
Well I RP perfectly fine as well, I do not see how I am a problem in any way, I mean some Lanehackers made off with the Spyglass, not to amazing that some people can make off with a cruiser as well. Most of the time spent on my guy so far is just flying around checking out systems listening in on people's calls to kill me, and staying out of sight. The few people I killed in the first place were just to get my character FR5d which it did. So far it has been perfectly sensible. Though the little picture from event horizon was a bit silly.
The issue at hand in both the sanction and the op's post is not ship usage, but rather id usage.
if you defect from ANY faction, you should no longer be using that factions id.
Not even an option.
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|

What Nooblet said. So basically I have to stick with that ID. Or I get sanctioned. There is no alternative, basically I guess we have to RP like its 1984 and everyone serves whatever faction without question. Though the Mollies were BMM defectors weren't they, and the Order is from Liberty, so I do not see why I can't have a Corsair who is rebelling.
