I can vouch against that statement...A good pilot flying one of these will have to study the ships of your opponent quite a bit...When using the corvo in PvP against another capital, use its speed to your advantage. You will be able to turn quite faster then other cruisers.
Plus it is an excellent support fire ship, I should know cause with it I took down a Council Battleship and a Cruiser with superior armor and weaponry with only the help of a few NLH pilots.
RP wise for my character I use it not as a researcher, but as a home...Course that's me and alot of others have other uses for it.
And yes, the 4.86 version is beast.

Having bombers help you take down a battleship and a cruiser doesn't mean the Corvo is good at PvP. The Corvo is in fact not good at PvP, its balanced to not be good at PvP. That is so people are forced to use it for its role play purpose and also because Zoners don't build their ships with war in mind.
Don't feed the man falsehoods, you likely survived because you dodged as much as possible and the battleship and cruiser were focusing on the only real threat to them, the bombers.
Since I will be RPing a Zoner captain housing a team of scientists, I will not be doing any PvP anyway. I'll prolly mount 2 pulses and a missle turret (probe launching device), so ye.
If ya need to enter house space, try to ping a official faction member of their Navy for permission. If one isn't on, you can chance dealing with the indies or you can simply do something else to be safe.
Just don't be surprised when someone calls the Corvo a war ship so they can shoot you for being in their space. Otherwise have fun. Everyone I know enjoys the ship.

Don't believe me?...Ask the NLH...If I recall, there was only 1 or two bombers, not enough to take out that kind of firepower in such a short time.
