I go on what ship there flying mainly, if there flying a train or something then its 2 mill but if its just a small transport or something its 500k to 1 mill.
Well, Telicaster asked me for 5 million, and his reason was i RP-ed good.
It's nonsense. It completely messed me up, i don't trade because of it anymore.
When i pirate, if a trader is RP-ing well, i tax him for 100-200k.
5 million is stupid and sounds like searching for a reason to kill.
It's 40% of my 15 minutes run.
Though i don't care about the money (i trade when i'm bored, i'm not trading for capital ships, i will never fly those) i was totally angry because of it.
Even worse, he chased me and tried to tax me from 5k distance.
I stopped near the Jump Hole, hoping to see a good RP conversation.
He was less then interested in it, but he was more then eager to tax me for 5 million.
So, everything above 2 mil is, for me at least, loophole for pvp whoring.
You can ask for 100 mill and get denied, and you have a legal reason to kill.
Nonsense.

Well I had a run in with so called noble pirate, again yesterday, Ill give him his due he had drooped his price to 1mill, so I thought I'd pay this time. Now the guy knows I'm new, I told him on Thursday, so I had only dun 1 transfer of money before, so I wasn't to sure what to do, because it was probably taking a bit longer than normal he starts firing and takes my shields down and warns me he will take me down. So fair enough I try again, twice, each time I seem to loose the connection to his ship before the transfer, buy now hes blasting with his guns, so I just tell him to blow me up because I no he will get my cargo and its worth more than his mill tax. I must admit I felt pi**ed by now after I was willing to comply.
Now this guy must be on a major power trip or just very young and has no patient's because most of the pirates Ive been blown up by Ive found are OK, when Ive been killed I normally have a private chat with them and take the hit on the chin and its all fun. But this one!
I mean If you want new guys to enjoy the RP game, just give us a chance.
Problem is.. He can't get your cargo, you both win if you pay the tax.
He doesn't have enough cargo space to carry as much as a transport can.
And he probably can't dock on a lawful base to sell it.

about transfers taking long - you gotto understand that some traders abuse the transfer window. - while its up, you cannot do much on your pirate, - you are basicly a sitting duck. so unless the pirate is flying a gunboat, - he is very vulnerable.
personally, i become extremely nervous when it takes too long, too. i am flying a fighter to pirate - and a lot of transports can take me out easily, when i am stationary and unable to dodge. - the tradewindow is also used to delay stuff willingly or to set it up and F1 out.
i wouldn t justify the pirate for getting cocky, but i can understand it. but yea - i wouldn t be so impatient when facing a freighter.... - ( just gotto make sure i am behind them, out of their weapon arcs ) ... but when i am facing a transport, i can be sure that person has enough experience with transfers. ( but yes, transfer windows often cancel out of nowhere ) ... as a pirate, i just have to stay away from containertransports and liners. those are simply too strong in the offense to be taken down without a major efford, which would be ooRP for me to undertake.
Sorry to grave dig a little. But I must resurrect this one as I feel its necessary for me to comment.
Yes, I agree with what Jinx is saying. No, I'm not a little impatient kid that wants to kill everything that moves for a kick.
In fact, I don't really get a kick out of killing a trader at all. As I fly a gunboat and there is really no skill involved. I will state the reason for flying that ship in a few moments/paragraphs.
Chopper. I don't remember the exact time I pirated you. But I can tell you right now, I never asked more than 3 million from a trader. Everyone tells me "3 mill is crazy" "Thats a little steep"
Well...I have to keep telling everyone. That buys you 24 hours. If you become a little snot and try run 6 times making me use more disruptor's, then flame me in RP...I might have said 5 million. If you got away successfully and I had to put more man hours in to hunting you down, then hell sure...5 mill seems worth it to me.
As I hardly ever trade until recently. Piracy was my main source of income. I had nothing else. I built that character from a baby star flier, and it because a capital ship in the end. Its my pride and joy. If I have to protect my credits and loot through a Mk VIII armor upgrade and class 8 capital ship shield. The hell yea I will.
I also RP with a common Farmer in Kyushu every now and again. It usually results in my death. DO you think I care>? I bet him once. But he is a far better pilot then I am, and has a better boat.
I have RP'd most if not all my encounters. I usually say, if your on the diamond run, "3 million in tax for transporting good through Dragon territory."
Now, If I don't say this...Then I am afraid I will loose 3 million because I will be too busy looking at my keyboard typing. If I do, and I see you have cooperated and given me 3 million, I will make it much cheaper next time. Its only fair. Take RUPP for example. We RP all the time. I charged him 3 mill at the start. then I say "Give me what you can afford." He pays for all other transports in his group, and gives me 2 mill from himself. I like that, many traders could learn from this guy. He even RP's it in system chat saying "I support the free people of Sirius!"
I think thats pretty cool. He probably shouldn't be saying it. But for a new trader, thats a better afford from what I have seen of others.
Now, People that pirate for fun ask 100-200k. People that do it as a career on the side ask 1-2 for people that pirate full time like me go 1 mill above that. 3 million. Is it really that bad.
If you ran away from a cop because he was about to give you a $400.00 fine, and he caught you again...Would he charge the same amount? No. Chances are he will make it $1500.00 throw you in his car, impound your car and put you in court, paying a further $5000 in lawyers, then resulting in community service, because your sure to loose. Now if anyone thinks that 5 mill is unfair after, chasing you down and loosing 3 other traders in the process hence loosing maby a good averaged 8 mill by the traders that arn't being taxed by me...Please, think again.
This was in now way directed at anyone in particular, it was purly explaining, why I pirate how I do, fly what I fly, and RP how I RP.
I consider myself a decent pirate. And if you do the diamond rout, your sure to see Telicaster again.
