Hey, Zapp. It's not that bad. But thank you, it means a lot.
To be honest I'm quite sure I, for myself, am a part of all the **** other people have to put up with in return. I mean, entering Rheinland when Hans Krieger, or the RM for that matter, is around may not be a walk in the park for some, especially if one takes it personally what we do there in character.
Sure, there's a great deal of bizarre stuff that goes our way, but that's just a small part of the game. I have the Orange Box sitting on my desk for some two months now and I can't really find the time (or the will) to play it. And I consider that to be the best game buy of the last year. I barely managed to beat Portal and play a little Team Fortress 2. Half-Life 2 and the episodes I didn't even touch, even though I know for a fact they're great. Discovery beat them for me.
Sure in Rheinland we have a great deal of bizarre things coming our way but it's not really exclusive to us. To be honest, I'm much more impressed about the guys who endure playing law enforcement in Liberty space, especially in NY. That's one job offer I'm not inclined to take anytime soon. Kudos to them just for trying.
My purpose here was to take a different stand around the general atmosphere of dismay saying that I have the feeling that we are improving, and that perhaps our perception saying otherwise is driven by the great roller coaster that are our fears much more than actual facts.
Not that I think everyone's consternation is wrong. That care and diligence to point out what's wrong (or at least what we understand as wrong) is certainly the responsible for us coming along well together.
Sure, we have the cap whores, the ooRPers, lolzers... But we also got LPI; BPA; the strengthening of KNF; Del, Angelfire, and numbers of other new people whose first posts are about RP or how to RP properly; USS merging with SA and letting go of most of their capitals and, more importantly, acquiring a different understanding of the game; we have PvP supported RP in NY; we got the LH faction; we got Xoria. And I could go on.
My message here is simply: Have a laugh and take a look around. It's not the end of the world. Let's not let our grievances take away the best in us. Play, teach, have fun, make friends.

Yesterday I realized my trader was a bit off my usual route because I had done just that (move gear) a couple of days before. So I decided to circle around the upper part of Sirius trading to reach Bretonia, where I needed to pick up some other stuff. I hooked up with another trader, we procured ourselves an escort and then left Rheinland. Apart from the nice little piece of role playing I did with the other trader, what really surprised me is that I crossed half a dozen other traders in my way. Out of those six, five were tagged and IDed after some corporation. On my way to Bretonia I've seen: Republican, Bowex, Kruger, Gateway and Daumann. Couting my own, Interspace, those were 85% of the traders in the area with a mindset broader than that one we take most traders for.
I must say that in conjunction with Kusari's beautiful sceneries, that made up for a pleasant afternoon alright.
This thread's intent is to say: There's hope.
I think that was me you convoyed with (Wash). I was going to mention it in similar fashion, but I see that's been taken care of. It was fun, and we even managed to maintain respectable RP when our escort lol'd. (Blasted Manhatten slang...)
If only I hadn't had to stop playing then, it would have been perfect (firewall was about to turn back on)
