So let's say I was in a fight with something like the following:
Quote:How about 1-2 battleships, 2-3 cruisers/cattlebruisers, 1-2 light gbs (if you wish), and 3-5 fighters.
°vs, say, 9-12 bombers. There's no organizational or tactical measures to prevent battleships and cruisers from destruction. ESPECIALLY if you throw in a pair of BSes instead of pair of bombers (on the "bomber team" side)
Or throw a repship on both sides, that'll make things much worse for the "combined fleet"
It's not an apocalyptic scenario, it's a normal, usual situation.
Say I was of the opinion, or stating (though my position might change halfway through the discussion) that the bombers in question are all packing nova torps and therefor are effectively lacking any sort of range issues. I guess -my- biggest issue as a gunboat pilot in a thread about gunboats would effectively be removed given that nova torps are just about useless against me. Likewise fighters. The battleship might be reduced to ash at range, but the cruisers will be able to either kite the novas or use their maneuverability to dictate range while employing artillery support while the support ships close with the bombers.
Of course the battleship wouldn't be in any real trouble since, as the bombers are all sniping it from range, they possess no way of stopping the battleship from disengaging the field and returning fully refreshed.
That being said, as a gunboat pilot in a gunboat thread who is participating in a hilariously lopsided fleet fight in a fleet which was designed for ultimate lulz, what kind of guns should I put on my gunboat?
Or am I screwed because I'm setting up a scenario in which I'm challenging you to defend a single battleship against a force of 12 bombers who are attacking it with magical nova torps which require no aiming and have a 100% accuracy rate?
