Player bases and their need to supply them daily, you will notice in the long run that it will be quite profitable for a pirate. Furthermore, you'll notice that your piracy tactics will change.
Too many bases counters the too many pirates problem. But I predict that the bases will be made more easily to destruct when there will be too many of them. Soon.

Just wait and see;)
hm... some good words I hear?:)
but ye, at least I will make cash on IMG| traders. but I still saying that making base near JG is not ballanced desicion. but who cares....
1: Cannon -specifically- intended for bases to be built at chokepoints. To put a lawful station at a spot that frequently gets raided makes perfect sense, both IRPly and OORPly, especially now that Bretonia has formally assumed control of the system. I'm surprised the BPA didn't consider erecting a border station over there already.
2: The base will not respond to your shooting NPCs in the area there. The "Omega 3 Gate Corsair/Hessian Supermarket" is still open for business. The base will also not respond to you shooting traders, although the BAF/BPA are free to dock
3: The base is not in CD range. It is 3.5K away from the line between the gate and the lane. If you yourself drift north of that, yea, you end up in range of the station and anyone undocking from there. It was specifically put a bit back from the trade path with this in mind (by yours truly).
4: Hessians do not yet have docking rights there. They may (probably will, given they had a good hand in keeping the base alive while it's shield was being built) get them at a later date, although it'll be for smuggling more then for offensive purposes. As a general rule, we don't want raiders launching out of our bases or retreating to them - that causes issues with the house authorities. Allowing the Hessians to deliver cargo there however (ore, blood diamonds etc), is something that would be IRPly fitting - so long as it's all in accordance with Bretonian law.
5: How is IMG unbalanced exactly? The faction has mining bonuses to more commodities, but weaker ones then that of the house corporations. It has ships of it's own, but none that are excessively overpowered (I suppose the best ship we have is that bomber). The Vampire weapons are rather weak in respect to most ships, as is our gunboat and capital weaponry.
6: The base location provides some protection to the jumpgate area (much in the same way most "Border outpost XX" vanilla stations do) but it in no way, shape or form protects the tradelanes. It also does not protect the other side of the jump gate, in Omega 7. The way to the Omega 7 -> 3 jumpgate area is actually shorter then the one to the Omega 3 -> 7 one.
7: IMG has permission from the BAF to build that base. Source: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?...pic=122848 . Roleplay isn't very expansive on it - we wanted to do more initially but Del took on the charge of handling the RM/IC event which tasked him to capacity.
All in all, the only thing that will change is that specific trade factions who have docking permits on the base, will be able to flee into it (something a pirate can fix by just pewing the base and raising it's shield), and that lawfuls can have some ships docked on that base to clear potential blockades after a while (BAF| and BPA) have docking permits as a part of the agreement with Bretonia). I doubt this will make piracy impossible there - just not as idiotically easy as it is right now. I speak from both ends on that -> As a Benitez Pirate Transport who has been pewing NPCs there on occasion, and as a IMG trader who has been hit there on occasion.

That is pretty good and full answer. more then SpaceTime gave thats for sure. less looks like ''i dont care''
Well base IS in CD range. GB undocked from it and quickly thrusted to me so I could even react to escape it. and after it Bomber undocked as well. so Im dead eat. But you cant move it farther so its usless.
I mean IMG is unballanced as trade-mining faction. With that cool Bomber, ability to use own GB and Cruiser and good trade routes. But this will not change too.
I will try to change my piracy in that area. and I will try to pirate all IMG ships supplying that base as well.:)
Honestly your complaining because you can no longer safely camp a jumpgate. Like AD said, there is a good reason those are there. And seriously if all you were doing is a jumpgate camp, you kinda deserve it.

And what do you propose? Trade lanes in O3 are short, now like Kyusu one. You can spot red target when you just starting to docking with Trade lane and undock from it. But this is another problem that does not about this topic.
Anyway, all discussion between me and IMG leadership was done and complete on that time. I sugjest you all people leave this topic and Admin close it to prevent spam. Bye!
