Haha he got me too, though I don't blame him.
I was on my way to Texas and he sat near the jumpgate in NY.
There was already some loot flying around him, anyway...
I wasn't thinking and thought I could pass him by without him noticing me.
Suddenly I saw I no longer had a shield! My hand flew to my keyboard, my finger stretching to the 'Batts' key, but it was too late... I hit the key milliseconds after I heard a loud explosion.
The whole reason I went to Texas was because I felt limited with 2 Archangels in my hold and wanted to get rid of them... which happened eventually, though not in the way I had hoped.
But instead of being angry, I laughed at the situation and my own ignorance of thinking I could pass him without conflict.
Nope.
I didn't feel it was needed either. It should be known that flying past Mon'Star can hold inevitable death if you don't have the gear to counter him.
I steared clear of him, not pointing my nose to him as a sign I wans't engaging.
That was a mistake...
If you see any terrorist entites around Liberty Space, please report them to the nearest L.S.F, SA, or Liberty Police Inc. Officer.

I've spotted Mon'Star in the same system as me a couple of times, but his reputation preceeds him and I head for the nearest exit, usually issuing a sector alert on my way!
I feel your frustration mate. I came expecting a great RP experience but so far its been quite lacking to my dismay. I'm not really trying to let a few people spoil the efforts of seemingly few that have put forth the effort to personify thier avatar. I can't be too critical cause I basically know no one on a personal level here so excuse me for sounding too blunt and judgemental, however there has just been a whole lot of 'bad' situations and not very many 'good' ones. I've been shot up a bunch of times this past week or so (I've just finished my first week) and for pretty much no reason. I don't consider getting attacked a 'bad' situation at all. I'm grown up I can live with it. I've pretty much decided that if you want to enjoy this game you just avoid Liberty and the surrounding areas all together. It pretty much attracts all the foul play because every single instance I've had has been there or close, while one of my characters I immediatly moved to Kusari and another to Omnicron have been great experiences thus far and a lot more interactive than just getting shot by random people flagged whatever they please, flying whatever ship they like, shooting whatever they feel like.
About the Xenos though. I also feel that same frustration, but realize they are just that sort of character. I've introduced a friend to the game and hes been happily trading since he started so he finally helped me buy a decent Train and we are going to buddy up to make it less monotinus. I didnt even hardly recieve his funding for the craft before I shot by a Xeno who claimed I didnt stop as he asked, while it only took 3 shots to bash my Starflea to bits. We start a conversation and the whole time I was trying to be in character. I was explaining to him that I wasnt from around here and I thought him asking me to 'flee the freedom lands' or something was meaning to leave and I was doing just that. He broke the whole RP by saying "I should have stopped and RPed with him". So I'm sorry in my eyes that was just an excuse to shoot someone. Alright fast forward to me actually getting out to NB to pick up the Train. I crusied back through and started checking for trade routes and broke my own rule about operating in Liberty. I tried to run a trade route from Houston to Manhatten with what cash I had left and didnt even get 2 gates before a pirate shows up. No problem. I think its great that we have that element in the game. I'm negoiating a trade with him when here comes the same Xeno shooting at me. The Pirate told me to run so yeah I'm not trying to stick around. This guy just killed me for no reason already. He says 'STOP'. Ok last time he killed me cause I didnt stop so sure why not. I hit kill engine and swing the beast around to face him as his lazers are still spraying me. I was motionless for at least 3 seconds while he finished me off....
So to that I say 'Yes.. what RP'.
"Im a Xeno I can kill you much as I like. Theres no rules".
I was left with no money or cargo, which I'll have to bum yet another loan off my friend and you know I could be all teary eyed about it but I'm not. I don't care about 'stuff'. Just the situation of being killed by the same person twice in less than an hour and them dancing around RP rules is going to always exsist with some people so might as well face it. Rules are fine, but being a jerk is another. So far I'm not too impressed by the RP elements but I hope that changes and I'm willing to try and have been.
It's a shame your first experiences have been... Not so good.
My suggestion would be to leave Liberty, and go to Bretonnia or Kusari. Trade there in peace, as Liberty is haunted by terrible lawfuls and unlawfuls (sorry guys). Rheinland is plagued by the Sigma 13 trade route, which brings lots of pirates along for the party.
