I must agree here, with the superior armor and weapons loadouts, bombers do have an advantage over VHF, that said, I really cannot complain, I fly a blood dragon which is classified as a HF, which is in reality, for all intents and purposes a VHF. I suppose it's a bit of a paradox. It turns so very well. I haven't been up against a bomber, but honestly, since I use BD weapons and nothing uber, I'm depending upon my flight skill over my weapons punch, which I admit is needing improvement. Not sure nerfing bombers is the answer. I tend to think I just need to become a better pilot. But yes, bombers do give me pause.
I suppose I can agree with the bombers being less agile *pets one of his capships* Hell back in star lancer those thing were slow (especially in mission 21) In real life there are craft only twice the size of of regular fighters and some the size of a cargo plane. Hell what we can do is completely revamp bomber so they're 2 or 3 times bigger and cut their max thrust speed to 170 (or 60) But that depends. If you wanna try and break them up into 2 sub categories (lighter bomber current bomber size and heavy bomber (size of a BH gunship)

Gunboats > Fighters/Bombers/other gunboats
Bombers > All Capital Ships
Cruisers > ???
Battlecruisers > Gunboat and Up.
Battleships > All capital ships.

no, i disagree. - forcing a battleship to fly with escorts by putting the bomber out of its role - and into the role of a superfighter is not working. - two bombers "should not be able to" - simple as that. 3 - 4 we can live with, i think.
but this was not about the bomber - warship balance. it was about giving the different ships different piloting skills. - thats why i suggested to give the LF a superior strafing abilities - strafing that would take up the major part of dodging instead of turning.
meanwhile heavy / very heavy fighters would more rely on thrusting / turning + strafing ... while bombers would require totally different skills to dodge fire.
so this is only about bomber balance to a small amount. - we all know that the bomber is the most used ship in the mod and the most powerful ( considering its abilities to dodge fire and deal damage .. aswell as unmatched in price )
but what its about is - a pilot that specialized on a light fighter should not necessarily be an ace in a bomber, too. - currently though... both shipclasses do not really require different piloting skills. when i am good in a light fighter - i will most probably be good in a bomber aswell. when i don t know how to dodge in a bomber, i won t be lucky in a light fighter either.
the problem is that even a fighter escort cannot take out a bomber well. - when someone says that a battleship must fly with fighter escort - how comes that the bombers doesn t need the same to be equally protected. currently the bomber can hold its own against most foes. - maybe it cannot take down some fighters - but the fighters are having problems taking down the bomber... so the protection mission of fighter escorts fails. - a battleship would prolly need twice as many fighters as attacking bombers to be safe.
Yeah... I don't like the position bombers seem to have gotten. They need a rebalance to be less effective against fighters while still retaining their anti-cap capabilities. As for how many are needed to take on a cap, that should be done through capship rebalances.
Im a capwhore, i have a battlestar and a bretonia gunboat and their arent any good anti bomber/fighter weapons so you can at least SUPPORT your "fighter escorts" And dont say solaris or corsair either. We need something like a purple goddess, a flak weapon that eats fighters/bombers.
and no, 2 bombers SHOULD'NT be able to take down a Battleship. thats just plain stupid, it should be four...

I would support 4 bombers minimum required to take out a battleship, if I didn't know how hopeless it looks to try to fend yourselves in an all fighter force against 2-3 battleships at the same time. How many people do I have to call online to stand a fair chance? 8? 10? All in bombers? It's not a rare thing to get attacked by 2-3 BHG BCs when you're an unlawful, especially in New Berlin and as it is we need to bring a force of about 5 people (2-3 in bombers) to stand a chance against the indies in there, nevermind holding a position. It's fine the way it is with two-three light bombers being able to take out a no fighter escort battleship, and the heavy bombers need to have their agility upped to be able to do that as well.
Apart from that however, I still stand by my turn rate decrease for most bombers, the light ones especially. A turn rate decrease will make it easy for fighters to stay on their tails, and shoot up their behinds with cannons and possibly even razors. People just need to apply some tactics.
Hmm. It shouldn't take many bombers to beat a battleship... otherwise we'll have solo players flying them all the time. They should REQUIRE escorts or be sitting ducks.
