Sterlin, one of the things we made sure to do when we got the house in Oklahoma was to make sure it was a one story ranch. After climbing the stairs in this house, between the basement and second story, I'm not just showing my age, I'm FEELING my age.

Did a bit of research Agmen, apparently the rifle is an M1867 Krnka, manufactured by Tula Arms Plant. It was made around 1869 and used in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877

If you look here Mosin Proof Marks you'll see that Tula used the N proof mark. That arrow visible here - http://i48.tinypic.com/14siate.jpg - isn't Tula, it's Izhevsk. So it's possible that Izhevsk did some rework on it, to convert it into a shotgun. That's why I wondered what was on the barrel.
That breech mechanism definitely fits the Krnka ...
