No, there is a Jedi Force Meld, and there is a Vulcan Mind Meld. There is no Jedi Mind Meld. While they may appear to be the same - they do have different names, and thus all right thinking and intelligent fans of science fiction everywhere should be outraged. (Obviously that does leave out Star Wars fans, since we all know that Star Trek rules!)
<yes, I'm obviously attempting to ignite a flame war by that last comment, what can I say? I'll WATCH Star Wars because it's on - I'm a Star Trek FAN! Everything that's wrong with Star Wars can be summed up in one repeating word - Jar-Jar...>

Funny thing, really. I know you're not a big fan of Benjamin Sisko & all, but we all know back when Jar-Jar was captain of the USS Enternets-G, he misspoke soooo many times during his day that the list could pretty much stretch from Starfleet Headquarters all the way into the Delta Quadrant.
Even you have to admit, the dude seemed to be brain damaged from all that Arrakeen spice he took back in his academy days, lowering his midichlorian count to the level of bantha poodoo. Luckily, heesa no longer gettin' any more screen time.
I'm just sayin' that people in glass Corellian freighters shouldn't throw tribbles.

They're pretty damn similar in effect. Considering minds are melded in the force meld, I'd say it qualifies.
Heh, in that case I'll build a bunker with a couple firebats and marines. Should do the trick. Keep a couple SCVs around to repair the damage, along with a tree, lots of rope and dangling feet.

If you want to stretch that logic, then yes he might have used a suitable term. However, I think it much more likely that a Jedi mind-trick would be what is needed for the Republicans, much more likely than coming to the same conclusion through connecting their minds peacefully. Also implies they are weak-minded
