If you want to make video's i would make a RP video story. Wich will result into an SRP wich you seem to desire (my 2 cents a barge or some defilers)

The idea with rewarding the guy that makes a great movie is cool BUT the rewards should be harder to get. Maybe something like this:

Movies rated from 1 to 10. The first 3 scores each month receive the gifts:

1st place: Barge
2nd place: Any ship that can be bought in game
3rd place: BS Scanner
4th place: 100.000.000 in game credits

Every 6 months the player with the best score gets a Defiler. So, if a player remains the best for an entire year, he can get 2 Defilers max. This way, those weapons remain unique and the movie creators have to work hard to remain in the top.

The movies are rated by the community. Each movie receives a separate poll and people vote its score.

The problem with that is that it would discourage people from participating when they feel like there is too much competition. The goal of this is to get as many good videos made as possible, not to reward repeatedly good creators while leaving everyone else out.

Additionally... It would actually be --easier-- to get prizes with your method, since people would only have to make one good video. With my system, you'd need to make a perfect video five times for the barge. (And only the first five barges would be awarded, because you don't want to see a whole bunch of them flying around everywhere after they're being awarded on a regular basis for years...)
