An excellent point [and one which would definitely occur to any sensible Junker] so I think the NOs have this one!
edit
also i had this idea that the things stats were much better than the ones Tenacity supplied so.....yea doesn't seem worth the credits outlay either RP [poor scavaging Junker] or just practically.....
its sold on an outcast base.. so what the heck are bounty hunters doing with, i aint got a clue. imo, you should report em, cuz obviously there is some sort of rep fixing that may be needed...
WHy not? Junkers are able to lean one way or the other personally but not both ways. Is your Junker going to be a Corsair friendly Junker with Junker buddies to get the other stuff or a Outcast friendly Junker with Junker buddies getting you the other stuff.
But if your smuggleing its better for you to not have corsair stuff in Alpha and no Outcast stuff in Gamma or you may be seen as a spy. But thats up to the locales just my point of view.
I wouldnt mix Corsair and OC tech. Maybe we could say the power relays dont adapt with each other.
But the Corsairs and OC faction leadership and indies would carry some wieght in this discussion.
Bounty Hunters? No. Cheetahs are sold off only one base - Palermo in Omicron Eta, an Outcast base. BH with a Cheetah should be screened and sanctioned, and should get the appropriate repfix. For the record, I've never seen an armory with one.
Now, as for you, I'm with frozen: with good RP behind it, sure. Without? Nah.
For everyone's info, I got two Cheetahs and love them. Worth the money, I'd say, but I'm a fighter jock, so:P
Edit: curse my slow typing on this stupid thing, I got beaten to my points!
I think with a really good RP story, it would be okay, but.....
The Cheetah Thruster is an advanced piece of equipment, made, owned, and sold by the Outcasts only on their base Palermo, the only base it is sold in Sirius. I consider it to be a status symbol, much like the Tizona or Colada owned by the Corsairs.
Your RP story is paramount in the purchase of one. On top of that, it is an EXTREMELY expensive piece of equipment to purchase, let alone maintain. Like Frozen said, go through a radiation field and when you dock, check out the bill...
I only have one on my RoS Outcast pilot's ship, all other characters use the enhanced thruster. I actually prefer the Enhanced over the Cheetah, simply for maintence costs, but like I said... it's a status symbol. I'm an Outcast, and darn proud of it too, and I want the best that my Nation has to offer on my ship.
Who knows, an extra 8 seconds of thrust might just save my life one day......
My 2 cents.
You ask me why Im weary, why I cant speak to you.
You blame me for my silence, say Its time I changed and grew.
But the war's still going on dear, and theres no end that I know...
And I cant say if were ever...
I cant say if were ever gonna be free.
i will i still have reported the guy who called me a 'female dog' in Japaneses....silly people still doesn't think i can translate when im being insulted.
The reason i say no is souly on the cost...My guns don't even add up to that amount of money...and it's kinda sad if a junker can out buy me:Djoking!
115 to 110 24mill
hmmm still would buy the 115 for the fraction of price...maybe if it was 80 for 24mill..that would be insane
In most cases, the Cheetah thruster is Outcast-only. That's what I've been told, by Fellow Hoodlum.
If you see it on Bounty Hunters/Freelancers/Mercs hostile to Outcasts, then prepare some screenshots. Sadly, mine didn't go through (maybe due to admins inactivity).
Junkers using it? Nah, I wouldn't like to see it. I believe it is Outcast only, and they only supply it to their most valuable ships. If a junker could get hold of it, it could eventually wind down to some lawful using it. Stick with the Enhanced, in my opinion.
This is rather interesting. Back when Zap was still pushing his great race concept I was moving to find a way to secure one for my Junker. It was the eventual plan anyways as the lad was forever working on his collector, upgrading and hotrodding it in any that he could.
I was rather planning on finding some way of giving some sweet returns to an Outcast smuggler for a couple of weeks in exchange for the thing.
Well for my reason's.
1 high tech, so junker would not use.
2 Outcast special item.
3 Absolutely no reason for a junker to be in the system it is sold. empty, but for 1 base. No junk or anything.
4 It would outclass any ship a junker would ever use.
No hard feeling's. I have a Junker guard, and a junker myself. and 8 other ship's. Only 1 with a cheeta is my outcast.
(and yes it is worth the cost for any true dog fighter)

1. What makes you think junkers dont use high tech equipment? Just the fact that they're called "junkers"?
Do you realize the kind of stuff you can find through salvaging debris fields? Take the dallas incident - that was a high tech facility that blew up, and the junkers know exactly what happend there even though the government tried to cover it up. even now there's junkers all over texas salvaging superconductors and other instrumentation from the wreckage.
Junkers are probably, in the background, one of the most high tech groups in all of sirius, simply because they have access to so many wreckages and scrap fields. Anything 'thrown away' or 'lost' by the houses ends up in those scrap fields, and later in the hands of junkers.
2. True, but junkers arent exactly hostile to outcasts. Junkers are the primary cardamine movers in liberty, bretonia, and rheinland.
3. Omicron eta is quick-route across sirius, connecting omicron alpha to omicron theta (and subsequentially omicron gamma, the corsair home system).
4. Maybe, unless that junker was a racer enthusiast. But I can agree on this point - the description of the cheetah thruster says it's more expensive than most of the ships it can be put onto.
