[offtopic]So long as you can get the loop holding the hammer to the ruler to remain in position, it is a simple case of balance. While the downwards force exerted by the head of the hammer eaquals the downward force exerted by the handle, with respect to the placement of the pivot (where the ruler touches the table), it will remain i a steady state. Or, if you have ever studied physics, its a simple matter of moments.[/offtopic]
