To be honest I don't think you can blame the Indies for not joining factions I bear no grudges but the truth is within in a week of being on this server and still being under level I was dock raped attacked by Battleships generally told things like leave this system NOW!!!! and all by Faction Tagged ships.
The server has changed a lot since I started as well though with the list server going down etc. Theres not really anything that can be done to prevent the changes unless the server was passworded the best we can do is try and deal with 1 player at a time.
I'm a believer in giving people a chance until they break the rules I think anything else is out of line really.
How can faction members claim to be preserving RP when they are the ones using pvp whoring and filing skewed sanction reports to push people around that they disagree with?
That's what the factions have made here.
The claim that people are rping in a way that steps on theirs is likewise false. There is room for more than one storyline in any large universe, just like in real life.

I would like to see any evidence of this PvP-whoring or claims of skewed sanction reports. Really, we can't help fix the problem unless we can see it, do you have a screenshot of someone being shot up by faction ships because they were an indie? That would be most helpful.

You had to give him an opening to start this again.

Haven't the factions admitted to this publicity? The 101st pvp whoring destroyers, the GMG pvp whoring me, followed by a sanction report done for revenge?
And how about the factions showing that indies are a problem like they claim? Or is that asking too much?

Sorry, you're right. Enough with the shenanigans. Okay Akuma, the field is yours. Here's a soccer ball, knock yourself out. Just try not to break anything.
Ok--I'm not going to get into this as an attempt to dig up past issues. Blame serves no point. It's just an excuse not to change things in the present.
But before the crowd piles on and says "that's a lie" and ridicules anyone claiming to have seen abuses...
When I proposed the Junker Congress (and even when I first started as a player) I did indeed get some oorp treatment from factions--and a lot of it very blatant. I won't name them but it reads like a "who's who" of "responsible" factions "safeguarding good role play".
Some of it was reported to admins and action was taken. I'm not going to name any factions or individuals but I'll list specific things that were done. One of the "old hands" on here asked me for names way back and I gave them to him but there is no reason to go there. Things (attitudes) need to change. So here's the laundry list of what I have been "witness" to first hand for proposing the Junker Congress--all by faction members--not once did an independent do any of these to me:
KOS'd
Multiple times and server lost a father--son team of new players two weeks after they started because it was done to them two times in a row. Chain killed by players multiple characters in multiple factions and pmed "We can keep this up all week".
PM'd Threats and Insults in Game
"You're ruining the server". "Who do you think you are?", "You and anyone who joins you are KOS forever", "We're having all the factions we are in put you on their KOS list", "We'll make sure you never make it on here", "You're an oorp cap whore" (and I hadn't even flown a cap ship).
Forum Bashed/Spammed
Not to whine about criticism but some comments and spam on forum bad enough for admins to delete it.
Ignored in Game
People informing me they would not rp in any way with my chars due to the faction proposal and disregarding entirely rp attempts in game for even simple things and refusing even to talk.
Ordered to Leave Systems
Because they didn't like the faction proposal--your character can't come here--none of them.
I could go on with quotes and the like--you get the idea. This went on for two months straight. Some of these players actually apologized to me and have been great since. All had backed off when I dropped the faction proposal and stopped with the .:j:. characters awhile.
In addition to all this, I made a few friends in factions who related some of the gossip and negative publicity campaigns a few tried to get rolling via skype, teamspeak, etc (which I don't use) and some saying they sympathized but couldn't say anything publicly because it would cause problems in their factions for them.
I was also given several threats by players warning me "they were in good with admins" and it wouldn't be smart of me to continue. One even threatened to file a civil suit against me if I said anything on forum about what he was doing.
My point is this. I see some of the same people "defending' why they have to "control" things for "the good of the server" and I know first hand its for the good of "their" server. In fact, those few people don't care about fairness or balance--just about being top dogs. Some of those who have been around longer know this is the case and could name some of them.
Frankly, I consider them, the aberrant exceptions--they just are very active and prominent and entrenched. All it takes is for each player to work with others and this will fade away--but as long as this us vs them"' strife continues, the problem remains.

This "us vs them" crap is the factions answer to often imaginary issues. Just read my sig, that's one of the more moderate faction leaders.
It won't change until they've run this server into the ground like the factions did at Asgard, and they they will sit on the empty server and blame the indies for it.
