Thin out the forward section a bit. Go for a more BW-ish design, or make it wedge shaped in front, rather than completely rounded off and curved. That'll make it look more fitting.
well, really... it's -supposed- to look different =P think of it going more along the lines of the raven claw / slipstream line (which were originally intended to be phantom ships).
Not everything in freelancer has to be blockish and ugly, especially the ships that are supposed to be developed by aliens or from alien design influences.
Update - I found a textured version of the ship that has some pirate skull&crossbone symbols and a mouth on the front, as well as some blood-lookin paint... certainly looks better:
This last version is sweat looking. If not the Phantoms (which I nothing about and have only spoken to one and seen four) Then why not, another "independent model out thier for generic pirates?
Nothing being brought into Freelancer should resemble either the Raven's Claw or the Slipstream, both ships are imports and should be removed in my opinion.
I like the ship, and with the textures it looks lovely but I don't think is right for Discovery, or even Freelancer. Stick with the cultural themes and subtexts established, we've all got wiggle for creative control but when we're just yanking designs and throwing them in I draw the line.
