Yeah I think those of us with preffered customer status gets to join the starfighter PvP that FINALLY came. Star Wars! Took em years to give us the ability to war in the stars. SWG's ground game was horrible compared to it's space game (which was ok...ish). I love SWTOR's ground game and PvP exp makes up for 3/4s of my level 45 Mercenary, but I was extremely let down by the lack of any proper attempt at a space game. I plan on getting a ship and slapping on this custom paint job they gave me. I fight for the Imperials btw.....as long as they keep paying.
Nah, I like both. But grown up with Star Wars more and find the setting more appealing than space pacifists. xD
With that said, I used to play SWTOR when it first came out but stopped. Even though it's within the confines of my favorite setting, I just can't get into MMO's. It's the grind that I can't stand. The "Go collect 20 of thse" or "Go kill 5 of these" with no real reason to do so besides xp. The awesome stories for each char are so few and far between the grinding missions. If I play a Sith, then choose a Imperial agent, the missions are roughly all the same. Too monotonous.
Though, with the addition of the Space PVP, and how I've heard it's improved from the couple years I stopped playing, might check it out.
In the meantime, i'm running a Star Wars p&p game. Having a blast with that. Set during the beginning of the Mandalorian wars, with the PC's on Taris right now as the Mandalorian fleets have begun their attack. So much fun.
I recently finished watching every single Star Trek film and tv series (not including the animated series)
hated the whole "holographics rights" theme of the last season of voyager. I mean, what's the point of creating supposed virtual people if you can't abuse them (in various ways)?
I also hate how Star Trek downplays logic constantly, and its all-too-convenient endings that keep the main chars alive at the end of each 40min episode.
And time travel, ugh. Especially in Voyager, where they blatantly acknowledge that time travel doesn't make sense, and repeatedly tell us to "try not to think about it", just terrible.
That being said, if you compare the sheer raw amount of good episodes in Star Trek to the gross amount of good films in Star Wars, there is no comparison. And the Star Wars tv shows - not the best films ever.

Isn't trading for credits in freelancer pretty much the same thing? :p

That is true. The story mission chain for each planet does not change from one imp to another, aside from perhaps some unique dialogue choices given to certain classes. So after you've done a planet once or twice it starts to get stale.
This can be relieved with flashpoints and pvp though, allowing you to skip some or all of the planet quests.
Also there are periodic events, like bounty contract week, that can earn you some xp.

This space pvp system is DEEP. I haven't really touched it yet but there's a ton of new mechanics to learn, stuff to unlock, etc.

Favorite Char > Jack O'Neill, Bra'tak, or Daniel Jackson
GU or EU > Expanded, because Atlantis is also cool.
Favorite Story Arch > The Anubis one, because it technically ends twice
Etc > Oh, this isn't Stargate!?
Favorite movie > I like 1, 4, 5, and 6. The best of them ... shoot me, I dunno. Just not the most recent two - crazy Anakin is annoying. The fight over lava is cool though
Favorite Char > Qui-Gonn, then Luke, Han, and Tarkin (Peter Cushing!). Expanded? HK-47 and Kyle Katarn.
GU or EU > Expanded. Knights of the Old Republic games were awesome, along with Republic Commando and Jedi Knight.
Favorite Story Arch > 4, 5, and 6.
Etc > Why so many hard questions?

"You see what your knowledge tells you you're seeing. ... how, what you think the universe is, and how you react to that in everything you do, depends on what you know. And when that knowledge changes, for you, the universe changes. And that is as true for the whole of society as that is for the individual. We all are what we know, today. What we knew yesterday, was different; and so were we."
