Totally backing up this statement. People need to stop calling stuff OP, nerf this, remove that and play the game already. Thing is, winning every time and shooting everything isn't what this game is all about. PvP isn't the main aspect of the game, though people want it to be and don't seem to stop complaining until the day the server is purely a PvP server and the mod thoroughly killed. My personal view? Stop removing, complaining and nerfing things. Leave it be already.

Bottom line? Appreciate what the mod is and how much effort people are putting into it.

If this post came from literally almost anyone else I might actually care.

Sadly Saronsen has yet to master the simple art of acting like a decent human being, and is in no place to preach to the community about how - in his opinion, no less - they should or should not behave. Amusingly enough, this thread will probably not be pruned on account of the original post, despite it probably violating or almost violating several of the forum rules.

If people feel that the developers are doing a bad job, they're entitled to speak up on it. Exactly how or with what tone is up to them, but you don't need 5 years of FLHook experience to tell that the new base changes are out of whack, for example. More like basic maths, assuming all the stuff Haste posted is correct.

Sorry, but I don't believe we should all get on our knees and venerate each and every decision made by the development team. Especially considering - dare I say it - a certain member (or perhaps even more?) seem to be taking a twisted sort of pride in causing upset with his development, rather than - God forbid - being ashamed of it.

Although we have a suggestion box now, so maybe that will dampen the infernos. I doubt it, though.

Christ, I feel like a broken record.

I really do not believe I can show how much I agree with this post in words. Though I will try:

You scream 'final nail!' whenever something is changed that isn't in your favor. 'Killing the mod!' you cry when a touch of realism is included into a roleplay server. 'M-MUH RP' you beg when you get your special toy taken from you.

You, quite hilariously by the way, blame the developers for what's happening. Brazenly, you spit in their faces when they do what YOU beg for. You beg, plead, *****, whine, and moan for stations to be nerfed, and they nerf them. What do you do? You piss all over them, the forums, and cry your entitled manchild tears.

The battleship scanner gets nerfed to be only 100% effective on BATTLESHIPS and a storm erupts, because for some reason, logical alterations shouldn't be allowed, because it affects your super-duper toy you just bought because you heard how good it was. You buy engines that're clearly listed by what faction makes them, and expect them to always work 100% with your ship. The amount of foresight you people lack is absolutely incredible. If it wasn't meant to be a roleplayed item, it would have never been given any sort of infocard.

Worst of all, you all fail to see what the real issue is. YOU are the issue. If the developers do not cater to each of your individual needs exactly how you want it, the forum explodes in forums about how personally insulted you are for it. Of course, if they do change it to how you wanted it, it's still not good enough for you, because for some reason, you think you can do a better job than the people working on the mod. Please, start pumping out some code for FLHook or throwing out ideas that aren't thinnly-veiled whines about someone. I'll wait.

The developers listen to the people. They've started putting out updates frequently instead of every 2-3 years as asked by the majority. This means more bugs, more frequently. Your puretech ship that has a 10% core? It's a bug. It happens. It's unintended, but you refuse to realize that, screaming and kicking about how something is personally insulting you. People begged and begged and begged for stations to be nerfed. They got nerfed, and what do you do? You literally walk into the thread saying you can do a better job, and that the developers are wrong, smearing your feces all over the walls as you do so.

If you can do a better job, I need to ask.
Why haven't you?

The developers are dealing with an incredible flood of insults, trolling, and ***** from you people, and almost never do they receive a thank you. I've given them my fair share of crap, and even as one of the angriest people on this server, you people amaze me with your sheer amount of retarded whining.

Why do you think the developers and admins are angry more often? Because they're letting power get to their head?

No, they have to deal with you little turd-stains constantly, and no matter what they do, they're flamed for it.

Listen to the community, and they did it wrong. Don't listen to the community, and they're ignoring the mod and trying to kill it.

You're the final nail. This mod won't die because of the changes to the gameplay, or the technerfs, or the rules, or anything the developers do.

It will die because the community will be so disgusting to even look at, no one will want to come near it. A bunch of children bashing their heads against their walls because they didn't get their way. Little, entitled brats that use slippery slope arguements and ad hominem to try and provide criticism.

You disgust me.

Wow, this is just a +1

This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.

Graias Buena Saronsen. I agree completely!

Cheers

We all read the OP, we don't need it quoted in its entirety in the same thread, also, admin green is for admins

I agree.

And: Of course devs and admins who have been working on the initial concept of bases (the 1st post) deserved a hugely positive reception of a well-thought through concept. Why? Because the post #1 concept is damn good!

It was not their fault that a number was published in post #3 that had to cause madness because it was so very likely that something was not okay.

And of course people have to speak out then. If you see a potential mistake that could harm you, should you remain silent and say "Hm, they will see it. They will not make that mistake... I'd better say nothing."? I do not think so.

If it was a simple communcation faux-pas, it should have been said so quickly. That would have contained the damage. But as that did not happen, people had to assume that this was the plan. And they reacted on the knowledge they were given.

I do not even think that is ungrateful because I hope that the responsible devs/admins understood that the concept is good and where the criticism is aimed.

And: Saronsen for President! Admin! Dev! Tell us what to do! How to feel! Be our Messias!

You even don't want to break my bones or punch my face in in rl as you already stated on forums when you were not agreeing with me? Smile

Wow. I am really surprised at the cool answer.
