This is where diplomacy plays its part. There's also such a thing as economic/supply strength. While they may or may not have the Billions in centrally controlled revenue like a House corporation might have, the Zoners can much more easily acquire goods on the fringes that pirates like Corsairs cannot come by easily, like food. You don't go biting the hand that feeds you, or you starve. That's part of the business/detente relationship you can make with such power.
Also...you don't necessarily NEED a fleet of battleships in order to defend yourselves on a voyage. You could more easily have a FLEET of gunboats, or a fleet of Cruisers. A case could be made to have a Carrier-like ship that is able to deploy snubs for defense...but that's a different role of ship.

If you aid us, and you aid them, you are the enemy.
If you do not aid them, you are worthless outside of extortion potential.
If you aid us, you will be treated with respect.

I'm not advocating that Zoners need a fleet of battleships at all. I must make that clear.
I was picturing a scenario with a single Nephilim being like a floating station, Some transporters to carry supplies and a couple of light fighters as scouts.
That would be my idea of an exploration mission. Maybe that's wrong.
I must admit that cruisers and gunboats sounds a bit warlike in my ears though.
That being said, I only have very limited experience, so I don't know which tools are best in what situation. That's why I have so much speculation.

I don't think so. This would be my idea as well. What's in question currently is what the current size/capabilities of said Nephilim should be able to do in accordance to game balance and also make sense in lore. Some seem to think it should be a Battleship or rough equivalent and nothing else will do, while others argue that such a ship wouldn't really be plausible or practical for Zoners on the scale they are played at, especially considering their less aggressive nature compared to House militaries and other quasi-lawful groups.

I understand this. Don't care about the nerf of it's capabilities, I just hope they don't remove it's base-like qualities and replace it by some simple cargo-hauler.
Cut from the Wiki:
Code:
Over time, the Zoners have evolved into an influential and rich factions that invests a lot into deep space exploration...
But anyway, We can allways apply for a SRP permit and even if we shouldn't get it, we'll adapt.
