Ultimately, you have a decision to make: mourn the past & spin your wheels pining for the good 'ol days like one of the "sheep" or do your part to find a way to entice more people to play in the faction.
It ain't an easy thing, but you have to decide what type of guy you wanna be...a guy that can, or a guy that can't.
I'm on the server tonight for the first time in...hell, I don't even remember how long...all I know is that it's been so long that even my muscle memory for flying is way past rusty. Oodles of things have changed, & as much as it completely irks my nads, I have to change my habits & expectations...& although my nads completely disagree, I'm perfectly cool with accepting the new reality as it presents itself & adapting to a new environment so I can try my best to change it later.
TL;DR Version: Quitcherbitchin' & deal...then choose to be either be a talker or a walker (hint: be a walker)
*a tear runs down my face*
I will be a walker!! I will adapt!! i will become something new!! i will and i can!!
You people really surprise me. Over 2 years ago the game was in it's prime. Working out bugs, adding new ships, some real improvements were made, then something went wrong. Combat became a metagaming nightmare. Too many people had characters on every faction, leaving absolutely no possible chance to avoid metagaming. Any time a faction even tried to be successful, some massively lame plot twist would prevent any positive stride to occur in the game. Most suggestions to encourage a non apocalyptic outlook on Rheinland or Bretiona was shot down in flames and all our attempts to prevent this, fell to the lame CR/IMG/Hessians/Coalition/ALG unity party that seem to happen overnight. Mass fleet movements, magical system exchanges and bases popping out of thin air and no way players could affect the changes, made it feel like playing the kobayashi maru with no Kirk in sight.
Corsairs couldn’t be the pirates that even I came to appreciate over time. Outcasts were being murdered by the fantastic five above and I couldn’t figure out where they were going into the story. Rheinland became a shell of what it once was and any and every improvement we tried with it made it become more emaciated. Bretionia became a hopeless mess and everyone became an Independent something, with the technology of some factions, with no restrictions OF the faction, so why the heck would anyone want to BE in a faction?
That was a year ago.
These delightful turn of events are the cause of the joy you ask about now.
Sometimes, when all you want is to gain your freedom, you must be willing to risk it all.
Someone came in and did some heresy to Omegas and Omicrons layout-wise. I mean, what? Who was the brilliant genius who was 're-designing' omega 5 and omega 41? Yesterday I logged sair ship and flew from Cadiz to Crete and I lost all my motivation to fly back on the way - it's total shait, really.
Just a pile of DAMP. And you can't protect this 'work' - it shouldn't be kept 'in respect to effort done' No, no, just no. Revert everything to VANILLA.

Maybe not everything, but some fixes to the Omicrons layout could be made.

and Omicrons are already being redone by treewyrm (whos been working on it for a while.)
I wasn't aware of any ALG-Hessian-CR-IMG-Coalition conspiracy. 0_o As far as I know ALG doesn't like the Coalition and somtimes even shoots at us. X_X And the Corsairs are actually doing good IRPly, They're attacking Omega-49 with intent on pushing on to Dublin, holding their own in Omega-5 and are in prime position to hit Cambridge while Bretonia is weakened, The Corsairs are also more alive then you think. XD Just ask the SCRA/RHA whenever we pay a visit to Gamma.
