I like NPC. I would like they would be stronger (they are quite harmless actually).
Maybe the density of NPC could also be adjusted depending on the system (decrease their number in usual PVP systems and increase it in systems like guard systems).
Also, NPC equipment could be adapted to reduce the lag they cause (invisible guns?)
(I am not familiar with the game mechanic so all of these proposal may be irrelevant)
i like the npc's for a few reasons. one is realism, i have been in my gb in cruise not paying attention to anything other than non-npc players and suddenly two hostile npc gunboats and a few snubs have taken me out of cruise and are testing my shields. space should have hazards, with the occasional lack of players and the size of all of the systems, npc interaction is sometimes all you get and it is needed imo. can you imagine say burgundy with no npc's? talk about a lot of totally empty space... the other is they can add to the occasional fight. they are more a bother than anything else and they can be a distraction to some, but i like the extra ships in the fight mixing it up.

They made them stronger and RPing was almost impossible at times. TOo much dodging involved.
