Question about the new restrictions on lawful cruisers.

The problem with this is, while pirates pirating is a case of the pirate attacking the trader...

for lawfuls, its a case of the SMUGGLER attacking the lawfuls by bringing this contraband to their home.

Really, this is going in the wrong direction. The server is becoming so anti-cap its ridiculous... we should also ban bombers from pirating or stopping smugglers because in some cases they are better then capships...

So what in 4.85 are the Order going to stop smugglers from entering z21 or just ignore them?

Since we are getting a cruiser (I think) I was curious as to what's our side. we border the dang place anywho.

New rules EDIT:

x.1 Cruisers cant attack anything smaller that cruiser, even if they are attacked.
x.2 Pirates have no right to stop or attack trader unless they are asked to do it by the trader.
x.3 Trader cant be attacked under any circumestances, unless attacker have Light fighter and terrorist ID

Heres how I think it should be.

Pirates: Smaller numbers, and fewer bases. Their cap ships can afford to travel outside their own space much less, due to the defence requirements of their faction. Means they cant be used for pirating, primarily defence.

House forces: MUCH MUCH larger numbers, but once again not as able to leave their houses ZoI due to the fact that the OTHER houses also have a large number of caps. Restricted to patrols in ZoI systems, and occasional interdiction duty. Means they can, as needed, stop smugglers (common freaking sense basicly, cops not gona let a boat of cardi make it in to manhat).


So, houses cant leave their specific ZoI with caps, pirates CAN leave their ZoI but have to be much more cautious with what they do (avoid engaging house forces, piracy (execpt in pirate controlled nebulas) is disallowed.

This forces the pirates to act like pirates and the navy to ac.... ok, so the LN wont be cleaned up by this, but at least there wont be a NEED for the capwhoring if theyre only ever facing fighters, and occasional gunboats (which is what common sense tells you to expect in NY) with bigger threats on the border systems, or border worlds. within the liberty ZoI.

Besides, if the pirates in liberty ACTED like pirates ( you know, a little role play ) then they'd just do quick runs @ a specific target, and either ransom it or kill and tractor its cargo. (and if theyre smart, have 1-2 smugglers standing by to fence the cargo..... @ the destination)

This would all be fine if the military IDs were changed so they can't scan for contraband/stop smugglers. Police don't really have huge capships, so if they're the only smuggler-stoppers, then there's no problem. And cops should be catching smugglers, not the the militaries.

Actualy, historicaly the military HAS been used to catch naval smuggling.......

Its not their MAIN objective, but if they happen across a smuggler, they stop em

Perhaps, though at least in the US that's a job for the Coast Guard... Which while technically a military organization, in FL it would more closely resemble a police faction. And above and beyond RL examples, smuggling interdiction is the ONE and ONLY thing that the police could possibly have unique to them. The military can worry about immediate threats to life and property (people flying around shooting people/things), while the police can worry about the unauthorized haulers of hazardous/restricted materials.

Anyway, that's already been brought up to the writer of the IDs, and I believe options are being considered.

If you want to lock down Alaska and Zone 21 please do not use the chat screen to do it. Actually patrol the system and location, the next violation report we get where someone gets shot outside of the Zone for being in the Zone despite their being no Liberty presence in the Zone will be sanctioned.

Del, I think this would be much easier for everyone if you included alaska in the systems where caps can attack traders/smugglers. Not zone 21, but alaska - that way there's a clear area where the attacks can be made (even at the cost of roleplay, a liberty pilot would have to wait for the smuggler to jump to alaska before opening fire) - but doesnt completely kill roleplay in that area.

So, in guard systems and alaska, can we get that change put through?

The Liberty Navy and Liberty Security Force may employ Liberty Navy tagged and identified craft and Liberty Security Force tagged and identified craft to enforce the security of the Zone 21 area (comprising the New York Minefield and Alaska System) This Zone is to be treated as a guard system for these purposes. Enforcing the restrictions in this Zone should be done in this Zone. Do not use the Chat screen as a placeholder for patrolling the Zone itself.
